Happy #TBT! Found this old calendar where I was Miss July 2010 💁♀️
Back then, I was told I was too #dyslexic to become a certified #specialed teacher.
Didn’t get that title—but I’ve still changed lives, and I’m proud of the path I’ve taken. 💙

As a dyslexic child I was put into a few reading interventions that didn't work for me before I found one that did. This was very hard on my self esteem. Please don't just assume the interventions that are offered to your child are going to work.
Thank you to @NateJoseph19 for including me in this project. Let's make every minute of intervention time count for students at risk of reading failure! #RightToRead link.springer.com/epdf/10.10…

Have you ever been told your child will out grow their #Dyslexia? This doesn't happen, but hopefully they will learn strategies to support it. Watch @janhasbrouck and I discuss this myth: youtube.com/watch?v=wEK44SDs… #DyslexiaAwarenessMonth

Coke bottling is something that happens a lot at my house. School can be so taxing on my kiddos that when they get home to a safe place, they are just ready to explode! You can learn more about why this happens by watching this youtu.be/zUfB_nHFq_c #AutismAwarenessMonth

Check out my review of the 95 Percent Group.
I felt that I had a conflict of interest on this review (I have worked closely with their lead researcher), so the grade was blindly assigned by an independent third party.

Hey @bcedplan! These are evidence-based instructional approaches and the most effective ones are not in our curriculum!

Illiteracy rate almost doubled for Alberta students but is the educ establishment willing to fix things? edmontonjournal.com/opinion/…
This applies to #bced “literacy consultants using antiquated ideas from many decades ago still have major influence and refuse to change anything.”

I think one of the biggest barriers for teachers understanding the science of reading is the vocabulary. So I spent the last three weeks working on this glossary, with a large group of people, to try and solve the problem.
