Strong data from the ROADS clinical trial highlight the potential of GammaTile® cesium-131 collagen tile-based radiation therapy (TBRT) to improve outcomes for patients with brain metastases requiring surgery. In the multicenter Phase 3 study, immediate placement of tile-based radiation during surgery resulted in significantly lower rates of tumor regrowth, a greater likelihood of living longer without recurrence, and significantly improved overall survival compared to standard of care, without increased side effects. These findings, published as a Rapid Communication in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, reinforce the value of delivering targeted radiation therapy at the time of surgery. Based on the results, the study authors conclude that GammaTile should be considered a standard-of-care option for patients with newly diagnosed operable brain metastases. GammaTile achieved 98.7% local tumor control by 12 months, compared to 84.6% for standard of care, reducing the risk of local tumor recurrence at 12 months by more than 90% (HR: 0.07, 95% CI: 0.01–0.56; p=0.012)1* In the manuscript's conclusion, the study authors state that GammaTile should be considered a standard-of-care option for patients with newly diagnosed brain metastases. At #ASTRO26, we invited attendees for an evening on the waterfront to learn more about the ROADS RCT data and best practices for tile-based radiation therapy integration.   The GammaTile team welcomed Lindsey Sloan, MD, PhD, and M. Sean Peach, MD, PhD, to present how Tile-Based Radiation Therapy (TBRT) with GammaTile is revolutionizing treatment timing and local control by closing the treatment gap.   Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of great conversation, and to Drs. Sloan and Peach for sharing their insights. We’re eager to keep the momentum going as we work together to close the treatment gap for patients with operable brain tumors.

GammaTile is the first and only tile-based radiation therapy (TBRT) for the treatment of operable brain tumors. Implanted directly into the tumor cavity at the time of resection, GammaTile immediately starts delivering a targeted therapeutic dose to possible remaining tumor cells. The collagen tile keeps the radiation source away from healthy tissue, reducing the risk of radiation side effects.
