Let's try this again... My newest video talking about the unique arcade racer of Screamer is out now! Watch it here: youtube.com/watch?v=fIahGiXO…

Stuff that may just 'work' on the surface could have serious issues underneath, like huge security risks. Especially nowadays, be very weary of the programs and services you are using. It's not worth getting a virus or compromising your data because you ran a sketchy 'recomp'...

In saying all of this, I do recognize that generative AI can be a helpful tool, whether its research, code debugging, etc. The problem is that people with no or limited experience in software development are abusing it, making garbage programs that you should stay far away from.

To finish off, I know I've been very anti-generative AI on here. As a content creator, it especially impacts me considering all the slop content out there, from articles, images, videos, etc. It sucks seeing the AI generated thumbnails or people jumping on the DLSS 5 trend.

It's also funny seeing all the "Who cares if it just works" replies when this 'recomp' didn't even work on Intel CPUs initially, along with other reported graphical issues that I've never seen with shadPS4. Sure, you may get better performance than shadPS4, but also more issues.

It's not only confusing but disingenuous to say a project is a 'recomp / native PC port' when only part of it is actually running natively. Full recomps are expected to not involve any emulation or translation. That shouldn't even be up for debate...

Just wanted to thank everyone who provided proper explanations and corrected me on a few things (like emulation vs translation) Regardless, my point stands that many of these projects aren't proper native PC ports if stuff like GPU rendering is still being emulated / translated.
Stop falling for this non-sense. A lot of these 'native PC ports / recomps' are nothing but emulation wrapped up a fancy exe using AI. Please explain to me why this 'native port' has a shadPS4 folder, and game patches used on shadPS4.

This is something that is important to note in all the new "recompiled" games coming out. Many of them, as noted here, are still using emulated, translated graphics backends, and are not in fact a full decompile/recompile. It's like if a game company released a "native" linux build using WINE as a wrapper (a-la witcher 2). Sure, they are more convenient than setting up an emulator, but under the hood they are still emulating the graphics instead of natively rendering them. I say this because I understand the work that goes into actually decompile/recompiling/building your own graphics backend instead of using an emulator to translate it. Sure, I also promote using AI as an effective tool for working on this, but I think if decompiles/recompiles are going to be made, they need to be full, legitimate decompiles, not using translation layers, as that's where you can really crank out performance gains and other features and optimizations. I've been working on my gears of war 3 recompile for what seems like weeks if not months now simply because I am doing a full graphics backend recompile, NOT using xenia's xb360 graphics translator, and even I didn't start that from scratch, I used the SonicDE decompiled gpu backend as a base: xitter.cf/GloriousEggroll/status… Even now I'm still trying to fix a few fps drops during combat, but otherwise the framerate has massively improved due to putting in the time to try to fix it via decompiled/recompiled code, rather than just relying on xenia's translator and calling it a day. This is the current WIP result I have, which is more than playable but still needs some fixing on those drops. Mind you it's also upscaled to 4k, no FSR:
