F man, that's awful to hear. Life seemed like it was looking up; I just saw him recently talking on podcasts, too.
Future motorsports fans will look back and never truly appreciate the beast that Kyle Busch was. Those people were not there for Kyle's 2021 Xfinity Series run. It truly was a time to tune in to see if Kyle somehow *didn't* end up winning. 5-for-5 before mic-dropping from Xfinity
Tonight the @eRacr_gg driven by @Freaky4Fast is honoring my father, who we are celebrating his 60th birthday. Happy birthday dad!

If a caution can end the stage inside the final 10 laps, then we shouldn’t be going to commercial… #NASCAR
Interesting notes here. I do feel this schedule release has a bit less pizzazz than previous ones, seeing as there really aren't any "new" events on the schedule. Last few years, with the debut of San Diego (26), Bowman Grey (25) and Mexico (25), Indy Oval (24), Chicago (23), etc
We just wrapped up a media call with NASCAR's Ben Kennedy and the schedule queen Julie Giese. Some highlights:
-- Internationally, NASCAR likely to stick to North America for the foreseeable future. Kennedy cited logistics and the lack of off-weeks as a reason, but floated the Clash could still be used in that slot to get to Brazil or Europe at some point.
-- For the 2028 military base race, Kennedy said they gave the Department of War a wish list, including some bases in markets NASCAR is currently not in like the Pacific Northwest, and now NASCAR will need to visit these bases and narrow them down to figure out what could work.
-- It was important for NASCAR to align the off weeks across the entire national series to give the industry a break
-- Giese has continued to have conversations about a street race with all of the local stakeholders in Chicago and they've committed to continuing those conversations to see where it goes in the future
-- NASCAR believes the Chicago market is capable of holding two races (oval and street course)
-- NASCAR is committed to maintining the current schedule structure of 36 points races and two exhibitions "as of now," according to Kennedy
-- Aside from saying they thought it was a cool event, NASCAR didn't indicate either way whether they'd like to be part of the National Mall race (or do it by themselves someday)
-- Kennedy noted the Clash back at Daytona may be temporary; he said NASCAR heard from fans that they "would like to see the Clash return there for a year" and seemingly left the door open for it to go elsewhere after Daytona debuts its new lighting next spring
-- It sounds like NASCAR could see some major schedule structure changes for the next media rights deal in 2032. Kennedy described it like this: "As we think about that next media rights cycle and putting all cards on the table, I think that's an opportunity for us to think big and bold."
In the comments, SoFi 401(k) could be a perfect name for it lol.
(also glad to hear California Speedway isn't dead yet)
With the news of Auto Club's sale and the uncertainty around future Coronado races. I am here to propose a logistically capable location to @BenKennedy33 and co. *The SoFi Stadium Course* This area is already capable of hosting large-scale events. More thoughts below 👇 (1/4)

Obviously, my course layout suggestion is merely an idea. But I believe there really is something workable here. I welcome feedback; this post is not meant as a more street-course post, but rather as a way to re-enter LA (the region) without a permanent racing facility available.
Thankful to Robert at ESPN for including our story about my father's health scare in this piece. Hopefully, his passing can continue to raise awareness about seeking healthcare and the hidden dangers of seemingly benign illnesses.
I went to Sonoma and North Wilkesboro to learn about Kyle Busch, what his death means to NASCAR drivers, and the lessons he gave the men he quietly mentored.

When the Coke series inevitably moves to a fixed setup, this may not be the primary impetus, but it will certainly be a major reason. From an intellectual property standpoint, it will be interesting to define who has the legal right to setups in iRacing and are they protected IP?
Thanks again, Kyle. Wish I had more photos to share, but always appreciate you giving me the time. 8.18
