iOS 27.2 supposedly brings the Apple Pencil support to the iPhone Duo. 4 days after Wave 1 devices were delivered. This is Critical update 1 of 2 that I needed. Hopefully my update will get seeded soon. Still waiting.

Multitasking on iPhone Duo should just work like Windowed Apps on the iPad. Apple made a design choice deciding to not make the Duo an iPad w/telephony, but an offshoot branch of the iPhone w/unique features. There are gonna be uncanny valley disconnects like this as a result.

Holy shnikes. iPhone Duo alarm will wake the whole damned neighborhood up. People haven’t been lying about these speakers.

Different people have different requirements. That somebody prefers the iPhone 18 Pro Max over the Duo shouldn’t be a head-scratcher. Foldables aren’t for everyone. The real breakout mark for ME will be whether or not this phone radically changes my workflow.

As has been the rubric for me with any phone series arriving with a new form-factor, feature, or twist on its old themes. That breaks out a device as truly being remarkable and transformative for me or just “Great”.

Getting a wrangle on exactly which screen it is that presents as your folded cover screen, I’m sure is throwing people for a loop. You’ll get it, but it may not be as intuitive the first time out of the gate. Especially if you’ve used other foldables before.

The iPhone Duo is my BlackBerry Passport healing tour. Never got a Passport cause it was so butt funky and the OS was being left behind. But I wanted one so badly. The Duo in folded mode is giving me old BB Passport feels. Or as close to them as I can get.

Apple device transfers. 1 of my banes is how there are some apps that are like “Hey, you’re good-to-go, happy to see you again” when you open them on your new device after the xfr. And others require you to sign in, enter your password, receive a vif code; and re-authenticate.

That being said. Apple Pay and auto-verification of cards with my bank went hella-smoother this time. It’s always been a full-on samba to get that working. And attaching my Apple Watch to the new device was cake this time. In the past I have had to do a full-on Watch reset.

The iPhone Duo is not a good-tier device to me so far. The BlackBerry 8700c, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 2, Note 3, Motorola Droid. There are probably some I am missing. But those pierced the veil. This is great, but not god-tier yet. Maybe when Apple Pencil support arrives.

Since this is a thing…first Tweet from the iPhone Duo. Shifting to it as my daily driver for tonight (despite my better judgement). First impression? Next iOS update better give us a way to get rid of the persistent edge menu when folded. I want all the real-estate for the app.
