Some of the language used in the media and on online platforms recently has been especially stigmatising and potentially harmful.
With so many sources of information, it can be difficult to know which are true. These are some of the common myths we’ve been seeing:
Cancel Culture? Some rules don't apply...
We have seen a lot of discussion around artists who have been blacklisted or dropped from festivals over the last few weeks...
Irish language rappers @KNEECAPCEOL have been dropped from TRNSMT and were called out by the politicians...YET Chris Brown is performing in Glasgow despite a long and violent history!
He is currently on bail charged with an alleged violent offence in a London night club.
So it seems men who HARM WOMEN are still handed the mic. 🎤
❓Why is there a double standard?
Is violence against women less serious?
We need to stop hypocrisy.

Every summer we take women & children affected by domestic abuse on a special day out. We can't use public transport, so need to hire a bus – our biggest cost. 🚐

On 22 July 2022, 23-year-old Kiena Dawes tragically took her own life after enduring domestic abuse. She left behind a 9-month-old daughter.
Today, her abuser, Ryan Wellings, was found guilty of assault and prolonged abuse but not guilty of unlawful killing. Kiena’s story highlights systemic failures to protect victims. Abuse isn’t just harmful—it’s deadly.
We must hold abusers accountable and provide real support for victims. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, reach out:
