A few moments of zen as a nice breeze blew through the pretty foliage against an incredible blue sky.
I made a new friend today, too...and actually got a few shots of him sunning himself before the cattle dogs caught his scent and flushed him off into the underbrush and leaves.
The cattle dogs had an absolute BLAST exploring the blueberry barrens..chasing birds...soaking up the sun...they were in such a great mood they even posed for a few pictures! Like....posed...on purpose!! 馃ぃ馃ぃ
There were FAR too many vistas to fit in one post so here are a few more from a perfect adventure day.
Today's adventure day brought all of us to Penobscot Community Forest at Wallamatoqus Mountain for a walk through the woods, across the blueberry barrens and to the high ground atop the mountain for gorgeous views of Penobscot Bay and Pierce Pond.
The late Fall weather was PERFECT and the views, while tough to photograph, were stunning in person.
Life is GOOD.
A couple of snaps from our playtime with the cattle dogs on a gorgeous late Fall afternoon here in Maine. 馃崅 馃崄
Here are a few pics from a pretty but windy day out with the cattle dogs today after a rain day indoors yesterday.
The dogs need at least an hour of intense exercise every day or they get REALLY challenging to live with...think...zoo animals for housemates. 馃ぃ馃ぃ
Oz-Man is literally a bull in the china shop like 99.8% of the time....but every now and then he can be surprisingly smiley and happy....like yesterday....we met a nice family in the park and their little girl wanted to pet the dogs. Sophie, of course, was happy to make a new BFF...Oz normally can't be bothered with strangers...an intense exam of their energy (especially if Jill is there)...a cursory sniff and then he's ready to move on...but he actually laid down on his tummy...spit out his ball and smiled for this little girl as she gave him ear scritches.
He makes me really proud.
A few pics of the cattle dogs playing at the park today...there was a lot of fetch with kong balls, wading in what's left of the Piscataquis River, and general mayhem. Just another day in cattle dog town. 馃ぃ馃ぃ
Today's adventure day took our pack back to Brown Mill Park in Dover-Foxcroft for a walk about on a pretty late Fall day. Rain is in the forecast for the next few days so we really savored the warm weather and the last of the fall foliage.
Oh yeah...I forgot to show you the winner of the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Weigh Off...
1847 pounds...just shy of a TON!!
Jill and I settled into the gorgeous 150 year old theater early and had popcorn and watched an absolutely HILARIOUS spectacle unfold...as a pumpkin regatta first timer, I give it a 10/10.
I mean...Bath Iron Works isn't sending engineers or naval architects to scout for new ideas...but as a spectacle it was quite amusing!
