Understand that Mayank, Prince and Harshit will never be available for Delhi in Ranji. 3) If you don't have quality red ball bowlers, then prefer playing quality white ball bowlers than mediocre red-ball bowlers. Suyansh, Digvesh are attacking spin options who can relentlessly attack stumps. Feel that white ball too need skills that be well used. Ayush Badoni getting 5 wickets speaks of empty bowling cupboard. 4) Anuj Rawat needs to step up. Another long career without a sizeable contribution. 5) Delhi has a good set of batters inthe line up. Groom them. Priyansh coming back will help. Unsure that Rishabh Pant will be available. It's the first match of the season. Long journey ahead but important to catch the hints and plan ahead.

One look at Mohd Shami at start of Ranji season and I am convinced that he will not be like another Bhuvi making a comeback to Team India. Shami is struggling and bowling at less than half tilt. Agreed, that is generally enough at Ranji levels to get a few wickets and maidens but he is way off the charts for international comeback. Gambhir is right, and so are the selectors. Right now Shami isn't even bowling 5 tight overs at 100 per cent. So better concentrate on Suraj, Krishna and Brar

Fact remains that our bowling lacks teeth and requsite skills. So slowly and steadily, the mistakes of going to youth and transition are beginning to bite. First Bhuvi, now Shami next? Is it about the ego of selectors that is eroding with the dismal results or the fact that our bowling resources are very shallow that seniors are still your best bet.

In his own RR franchise, he has two wk. So question is, what is he going to achieve? Neither is Pant, Samson, Ishan, Jurel or KL going anywhere in near future. His issue is largely his missing spotlight in batting. In ODIs His opening slot is taken up by present and former skipper who look set to play till next year end. In T20Is, he is not in contention with Abhishek, Sanju, Vaibhav fighting their ownbattle with Gambhir. In IPL, his spotlight has been snatched away by Vaibhav's baby looks and power-packed innings. His style of batting lacks these ingredients. So the big question should be: Should he keep his originality and wait or does he improvise? Definitely becoming a wk isn't a wise option.

Never a fan a captaincy being passed on after a successful stint. Be it Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma or Harmanpreet. If the player is good to be in XI, why the shift? Captaincy on the ground is over-rated . It's the policy call in the dressing room that really matters. Which is why dressing room respect matters the most. His issue is KL as first choice, not Ishan as second choice. Team didn't want another repeat of T20 drama when Pant scores, and again it's a three way drama. Jurel isn't an immediate threat.
