GLASGOW CITY CHAMBERS 🚨 Watch this video. People experiencing homelessness have had ENOUGH of feeling ignored. Enough of being left on the streets. Enough of being passed from service to service. Enough of being told there is nowhere to go. Enough of feeling that nobody in power is listening. Now, with council officers recommending action that could threaten the food and shelter people rely on, emotions have reached boiling point. Homeless people themselves have taken their voices directly to @GlasgowCC City Chambers with one clear message: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. These are human beings. They deserve dignity, safety, food and somewhere safe to sleep not another night abandoned on Glasgow’s streets. You can disagree with how people express their anger, but you cannot keep ignoring why they are angry. 🚨 BREAKING: OUR SHELTER AND FOOD SERVICE ARE AT RISK @glasgowcc Glasgow City Council planning officers have recommended that councillors REFUSE Homeless Project Scotland planning application. If councillors accept that recommendation, the consequences could be devastating for the people who depend on our services. Every night, people come through our doors because they are hungry, homeless, frightened, cold or simply have nowhere else to turn. Our volunteers do not ask where someone comes from, how they got there, or whether helping them is convenient. We help because they need us. Scotland is in a housing emergency. People are still sleeping rough. Families and individuals are struggling. This is not the time to close services it is the time to protect them. The recommendation is not the final decision. Elected councillors will decide. We are asking every councillor on the Planning Committee: Please look beyond the paperwork. Look at the human consequences of this decision. 🚨 Our volunteer food collection van arrived at 5:30pm to collect donated food for people experiencing homelessness. By 5:32pm just 2 minutes later it had been issued with a £50 parking ticket. If this happens every day, it will cost our charity £50 every time we collect food money that should be feeding people, not paying parking penalties.
