“It kind of seems like violence IS the answer in the Bible.”

Even though we don't officially have a #HouseOfRepresentatives yet, sign @JRSusa's most recent petition so the House will know to #StandWithRefugees when they get around to governing.

Amongst their MANY other failings, @FIFAWorldCup really didn’t think through how disruptive a November international #soccer tournament would be to a multinational boarding school the week of the #Thanksgiving holiday. #FIFAWorldCup
Back in @GeorgetownPrep’s Figge Theater for #AChristmasCarol. Should be some enthusiastic laughing and clapping from the front row.

Such a loss!
Fr. Nolan's _Jesus Before Christianity_ was and is critical to my theological understanding and imagination. It was a gift to read it and an honor to have taught it.
#RestInPeace, Fr. Nolan.
"Can an experience of public school and college centered on standardized exams offer a sense of intellectual agency and vitality that leads to freedom and empowerment?"
Such a compelling question from @anndaraabrams for all teachers, but a particular alarm for #Jesuit schools!

Definitely just had a student lead his partners in a prayerful reading of Psalm 23 before commencing work on today’s group project. I’m either doing everything big right or loud wrong.

Step 1: Hang @SeattleU banner in the classroom.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Watch dozens of @GeorgetownPrep students make the premiere #Jesuit school on the West Coast their college choice.

September is #SuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth.
Before we close it out, remember that you are loved by so many people - family, friends, teachers, neighbors, Starbucks baristas, etc. - who would miss you if you were gone and are here to listen if you're feeling low.
Want some thought-provoking insights into the Genesis Primeval Narratives? Just go ask some 15-year-olds like I did in today's #Harkness discussions.

I have decided this is not proof-texting in the way some other people quote from #Leviticus, because this quote is part of much broader biblical theme.

First #Harkness of the year on the Genesis creation stories.
Check out the wisdom my students unearthed - no thanks to their teacher, who always learns so much from them.

_What Happened at Vatican II_ is brilliant. Especially in our contemporary moment, where so many American Catholics are debating whether the council even happened, it is a must-read sketch of the work done behind the scenes to bring real change.
When people ask what to read first by John O'Malley, SJ, who died this week at 95, it's hard to answer! Usually I point to his superb books "The First Jesuits" and "What Happened at Vatican II."
But there are many great articles at @americamag as well! Here are three:
