Was fortunate enough to be given some time by Ukrainian GP Dr Pavlo Kolesnyk to discuss the reality facing healthcare staff in Uzhhorod, which has seen an influx of refugees since the outbreak of war. They're facing drug shortages, threats of missiles and burnout #GPnews #Ukraine

Well, after almost 3 years my time at @GPonlinenews has come to an end. It's been a roller coaster reporting on the profession during a pandemic, but I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone I've spoken to in that time. I have massive respect for you all. Take care 🙏 #TeamGP

This is one of the many issues being discussed at the UK LMCs conference tomorrow. We've got record numbers of GP trainees but too few surgeries registered as ‘sponsoring practices’ who can employ non-EEA GPs gponline.com/thousands-gp-tr… #GPnews #visa
Really great (but frustrating) piece here from @nickbostock reflecting how pressures on general practice are spilling over onto the personal lives of GPs. Thanks to @drgandalf52 for sharing #GPnews #TeamGP #Ramadan2022 @RebuildGP
Moving example from @drgandalf52 of the incredible personal sacrifices GPs are making to maintain services in the face of unprecedented pressure #NHS #GPnews

📢More from the @GPonlinenews team as we discuss appointment stats, delayed specialist status and key motions for next week's UK LMCs conference #GPnews #Podcast

Why do we only track appointments? It's the whole job that's swamping us. Tip of the iceberg appointments. No one ever monitors the tasks, prescription queries, the documents, the reports, reviewing investigations, the debriefing of colleagues, the teaching, the meetings....
✅ The recommended number of appointments per GP is 15. The safe maximum is 25. ⚠️ The harsh reality is that on average, one doctor is seeing 46 patients per day. ⛔️ GPs simply do not have the capacity to make the best decisions for their patients at this rate. #RebuildGP

BMA GPC deputy chair @KieranLincsGP also outlined the need for GP to have its 'biggest recruitment drive' ever to address current issues. Retention must also be tackled, perhaps by making it easier for GPs to work part-time, others said #GPnews #TeamGP gponline.com/general-practic…
