A new summer, a new experience: Editing the creative section of the academic journal, Label Me Latina/o. Thanks to my co-editor, Lee Bebout, for inviting me.
Our introduction discusses the role of small, volunteer journals in the face of fascism.

My Undocublack Immigration is a Black Issue shirt just made me a new writing friend at the public writing. Kamaal is finishing up his sci-fi novel and holding out for a big $$$ deal. =D
At a convo between Mitchell Jackson and @NK_Adjei, and he says, "Prison stifles our imagination." Thanks to @mdbell79 for organizing.

This week we're celebrating Saretta Morgan's recent release of Alt-Nature with a workshop and reading series. There's still space to join us. Saretta has been close to the desert for many years now. 🌵

Grateful to @awpwriter for making some of panels available for viewing after the conference. I missed this one in person, and I've played Giménez's poem, Screaming, on repeat this week.
what's at the score of her new tongue? / a smattering
So excited to be in conversation with @emillygprado this afternoon! I was up late last night prepping my questions.
It's been a long while since I submitted regularly, and I came across my first AI submission guideline today. 😳

Morning view from Maricopa Point, Jan 22, 2024.
After a break today, more rain and snow arrive tonight. Expect areas of rain, with snow above 6500 feet, especially late tonight through Tuesday. Once again, only light and sporadic accumulations are expected. 📷NPS/J. Baird #AZWX
Glad to have met you at CIB, @ShangyangFang!
Last week (and this week and future weeks) was a difficult time to be following public discourse. I'm glad for the time and space to be in community with writers who continue to support human rights. Thanks, @piper_center, for making space for us.
We only had a brief few minutes to talk, but glad to learn more about you, @urayoannoel. I'll be sure to say hi when we meet again.
Tender care is what I took away from @writeantiracist's reading at #DNRS last week. I'm glad I got to read with her. <3
Thank goodness for readings that bring me into community with amazing writers like @thinkfreestyle. Thanks, @piper_center, for bringing us together.
It was great reading with @SarahViren last week at #DNRS. Glad for the opportunity to learn a little more about her work. <3

Don’t be afraid of institutional backlash. Just don’t. I’ve seen institutions fall on their knees to accommodate the people they were trying to silence, inviting them to speak and educate afterward. Be so strong the institution is forced to see their wrongs and accommodate you.
Of all the sessions I attended at #DNRS, @vauhinivara was the most informative & affirming: Though the language that AI produces might uncover something interesting for writers, it cannot be read, analyzed, and appreciated the way a human's can because AI does not have intent.
