Could ionic gel #embolics be used to deliver #chemotherapeutic agents? Fluidx is exploring the possibility and this in vitro data is promising. GPX showed a steady release of #doxorubicin with no impact to the material properties of the gel. #IR #embolotherapy #oncology #tumor
ALT GPX demonstrated that it can be loaded with doxorubicin, a chemotherapy agent commonly used in chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma and other cancers. The graph pictured here shows a steady release profile that is desirable for chemoembolization.

Why is a distal flowing neurovascular embolic differentiated? Current solutions do not readily flow to the end of the vessel. Dilutions, wedging and various techniques are used to to deliver material distally which has been shown to result in faster resolution of the hematoma.
Every peripheral #embolization case brings something new — a different anatomy, a different patient, a different challenge.
That variability is part of what makes interventional radiology demanding. It's also what drove us at Fluidx when we set out to build ULTRA.
We wanted to give physicians one thing they could count on, regardless of what the case brought. ULTRA is designed to have excellent fluoroscopic visibility and consistent, technique-independent performance across a variety of anatomies.
