1/ Despite their vocal disagreements and expressed disappointment, neither Turkey nor Azerbaijan is likely to take any action that would actually harm their strategic relationship.

3/ What really amazes me is how Aliyev invoked Islam and sought to mobilize the religious sentiments of some Azerbaijanis during and in the aftermath of the second Nagorno.Karabakh war, only to later recognise the potential risks of relying too heavily on religion to his regime.

4/ Anyhow, the two ruling parties (the secural YAP and the conservative AKP) have carefully managed to bridge their social and ideological differences, even during periods of crisis in bilateral relations, such as in the aftermath of the 2009 Zurich Protocols.

A crucial historical step, if it comes to fruition. Ideally, the resolution should recognize the Pontic Greek and Assyrian Genocides alongside the Armenian Genocide.
I will bring before the Israeli government at its next meeting a proposed resolution for the official recognition by the Government of Israel of the Armenian Genocide. Recognizing the genocide perpetrated against the Armenian people in the final years of the Ottoman Empire is both a moral and historical duty. We must also firmly condemn any denial, minimization, or distortion of the historical truth. The resolution will subsequently be brought before the Knesset for a vote.

This reflects how a large part of Turkish society thinks. Politics matter, and this is more a response to Erdoğan's anti-Israel rhetoric than a sudden shift. But recognizing the Armenian Genocide is, above all, a moral obligation for any state that considers itself civilized.
After all of a sudden targeting Turkey for the Hamas presence, now Israeli government is preparing to approve a proposal for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Netanyahu continues to escalate

Mr. @shafiyev_farid, if the future peace architecture of the South Caucasus is indeed to be based on territorial integrity and sovereignty, then Azerbaijan must also abandon its irredentist ambitions embodied in the so-called "Western Azerbaijan" concept.
Azerbaijan's major perspective on the result of elections in Armenia: - The victory of the incumbent PM Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party is a good sign that the normalization will continue between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is good for the whole region. - Peace architecture was built in the region with the key role of Azerbaijan, based on the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty - principles which Azerbaijan advocated for 30 years since the independence of all three republics in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan's promoted "calculated confidence-building measures designed to demonstrate to the Armenian public that peace was both possible and beneficial. They shaped the political environment in which the June 7 vote took place." - However, peace architecture is not complete. Azerbaijan's demand for a change to the Armenian Constitution remains. I see a plethora of articles against such a demand. Nothing new. Over the last five years, the situation in the region has improved, though many pundits who targeted Azerbaijan's strategy proved wrong. - For durable peace, it is essential that not only one person (Pashinyan) or one party (Civil Contract) favors the relevant constitutional changes, but the people of Armenia also affirm this path. More on this - in my colleague @HuseynovVasif's article

Israel refuses to officially recognize the late-Ottoman genocides of Armenians, Pontic Greeks, and Assyrians/Chaldeans. It is never too late @netanyahu. You can still redeem a nation that knows the horrors of genocide all too well.

Liar. Under int. law, the expansion of terr. waters/airspace is a sovereign right of the state concerned. No int. court rules on whether a state may exercise that right. Courts can adjudicate issues related to the continental shelf/EEZ. 🇬🇷 constantly expresses openness to that.
One thing you should know about Turkey - Greece dispute in the Aegean is that there is a peaceful way: International courts. Turkey is willing to take the issues of territorial waters, maritime zones and airspace to the courts and accept the judgments. Greece doesn’t

Despite Aliyev’s mocking, it is undeniable that Azerbaijan has not attacked Armenia since the deployment of the EU civilian mission. And despite his bravado, he would never risk harming EU personnel.
Today we live in an atmosphere of peace, and we are the authors of this peace.

The Middle East will be one of the epicentres of the coming “corridor wars.” Today, there are two major competing projects: IMEC and the Turkey-led Iraq Development Road. Both are designed to fundamentally reshape trade routes while carrying major geopolitical implications.

Of the two, the Development Road will probably be completed sooner.

Turkish nationalists, who are very vocal on social media, go into a frenzy when Greece does what every sovereign nation is expected to do. They even criticize their own allies (Qatar, Libya) for engaging with Athens. I hope & believe that many in Turkey do not share this mindset.

For decades, 🇹🇷 kept its border with 🇦🇲 closed over Nagorno Karabakh. Today, 🇦🇿 controls NK. Yet 🇹🇷 keeps the border shut, despite progress in talks with 🇦🇲. Ankara has now linked reopening to an 🇦🇲–🇦🇿 peace treaty. All to keep 🇦🇿 satisfied, despite clear gains from open borders.

Who’s the biggest loser of the war? Well, apart from Lebanon, I’d say Iraq. Its oil exports (40%-53% of GDP) have collapsed (-96%), while it has once again become a proxy battlefield; from Iran-backed & Kurdish groups to Iranian & US strikes. This battered nation deserves better.
