⚡️ 53 U.S. senators voted to block a resolution that would have forced the State Department to report on the killings of American citizens by Israeli settlers and soldiers in the occupied West Bank.
The privileged resolution, led by Sens. Chris Van Hollen, Tim Kaine and Bernie Sanders, invoked Section 502B of the Foreign Assistance Act. It would have required a report within 30 days on:
➤ Investigations into the killings of U.S. citizens by settlers or Israeli forces
➤ The human rights situation in the West Bank, specifically the detention of Palestinian children
If the administration failed to deliver the report, most U.S. security assistance to Israel would have been cut off, according to the sponsors.
The resolution notes nine Americans have been killed in the West Bank since 2022 and none have received accountability or justice from either the Israeli or U.S. government.
BREAKING: John Fetterman is the lone Democratic senator to vote AGAINST Sen. Chris Van Hollen’s resolution to require the Department of State to report to Congress on Israel’s humanitarian abuses and killings of Americans in the West Bank.
Sen. Rand Paul is the only Republican who joined Democrats in voting Yes.
The motion thus failed 47-53, but this is a seismic shift in the Senate regarding U.S.-Israel relations.

Sen. @amyklobuchar: We have confirmed that you were right, Mr. Smith. The Iowa Hawkeyes played Maryland on February 3, 2024. The final score was 93-85. Iowa won and Caitlin Clark scored 30 points, so it must've been a pretty good game. The game was, in fact, in Maryland. For a US senator to have false information and imply that you were in another city and then call you a 'dirtbag' is something that deserves an apology.
