The GLG, chaired by Interim Chair Hon. Minister @jakobforssmed, held an information session today ahead of the 5th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR, taking place in Abuja, Nigeria, on 6–8 December 2026.
We thank H.E. Prof. @muhammadpate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Nigeria, for briefing GLG members and partners on preparations for the Conference.
The session provided an opportunity to:
🔹 Take stock of progress in preparations for the Conference and reaffirm the importance of sustained political leadership to accelerate implementation of global AMR commitments.
🔹 Emphasize the need for an action-oriented Abuja Compact, with concrete commitments and clear responsibilities, particularly on AMR prevention, One Health coordination, health systems strengthening and sustainable financing.
🔹 Advocate for stronger global AMR governance, including greater coherence among existing mechanisms and more impactful ministerial conferences to sustain political momentum, strengthen accountability and drive implementation.
