Every girl should be free to learn, grow and shape her own future. Yet for millions of girls, child marriage continues to limit those possibilities. Education can help change that. Over the past 2 years, @UNESCO programmes advancing #GenderEquality in education have reached 38M+ learners. This #DayOfTheGirl, we call for renewed commitment to every girl’s right to learn, work, decide freely and shape her own future. unesco.org/en/days/girl-chil…

Girl leaders have a message: keeping girls in school requires more than enrolment. It requires investment, protection, safe spaces and listening to girls themselves Read what these girl leaders want the world to know: 🔗ungei.org/blog-post/keep-gir… #InternationalDayoftheGirl

Mental health is part of everyone’s well-being, and disability inclusion means making sure everyone is respected, supported and able to participate. Let’s work together and build communities where people can be included and thrive. #MentalHealth #DisabilityInclusion

Our fifth public policy recommendation for this session of Parliament focuses on inclusive employment. Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) is one of Canada’s most successful inclusive employment initiatives. Delivered nationally by Inclusion Canada and the Autism Alliance of Canada, RWA has helped facilitate more than 6,500 jobs for people with intellectual disabilities and people with autism across every province and territory. RWA works with employers throughout the hiring process—helping them strengthen their inclusive recruitment practices, connect with qualified job seekers and create the conditions for lasting employment success. But continued progress requires continued investment. We are calling on the Government of Canada in the upcoming federal budget to commit to further investing in the program over the next five years, beginning in 2027, to continue and expand Ready, Willing and Able. Renewing RWA will help more people with intellectual disabilities and autistic people find meaningful employment—and help more Canadian employers access talent, strengthen their workforces and build inclusive workplaces. Learn more about RWA and join us in calling for renewed federal funding: readywillingable.ca @AllianceAutism

Ableism isn’t always obvious. It can show up in attitudes, assumptions, policies, systems, and everyday interactions. And whether it’s intentional or not, the impact can be exclusion. This is Ableism is a campaign created with people with disabilities and their families to help us recognize ableism and understand its impact. Because we can’t challenge what we don’t see. ▶️ Watch the video and start the conversation. youtube.com/watch?v=OdK9Av9X… #ThisIsAbleism #InclusionCanada #DisabilityInclusion #EndAbleism

“It’s not just a disability program.  It is workforce development. It is economic participation and it is really good, smart public policy”   Great remarks by Julie Smith, executive director with the PEI Association for Community Living. Julie talked with host Louise Martin on CBC Compass TV on the positive impacts of the Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) Program.   RWA works with both employers and people with intellectual disabilities and autism and has resulted in 6,300 job opportunities – including 110 across Prince Edward island.   As Smith points out, these weren’t “special jobs” but are current, operational roles that employers needed to recruit for. RWA demonstrates people with intellectual disabilities and autism are a great fit as employees for businesses of all sizes and sectors.   RWA is a national initiative by Inclusion Canada and the Autism Alliance of Canada and supported by the Government of Canada. 20 years after the adoption of the #CRPD, the work to turn its promise into reality continues. Opening the 35th session of the CRPD Committee, IDA President Nawaf Kabbara reaffirmed a central message: OPDs are rights holders, partners and essential actors in holding States accountable. As new challenges emerge, from AI and climate change to humanitarian crises, the CRPD must remain our foundation. 20 years on, our responsibility is not simply to preserve what has been achieved. It is to make it real. #LetsMakeItOurs #CRPD20
