Had the enormous privilege of recording an oral history with the 2nd Dean of @ANZCA_FPM Leigh Atkinson! What an extraordinary career!
Our Museum was founded in 1935 by Dr Geoffrey Kaye. If he was still alive, he'd be celebrating his birthday today! Join us for a quiz on him here: instagram.com/stories/gkmuse…

At Museum of Anaesthetic History @GKMuseum in Melbourne. Appreciating not just the functionality of old artifacts but also their aesthetics together with very helpful curator. It’s a must visit for anyone interested in #anaesthesia history! What spinal needle could this be?Hint L
Recording #oralhistories are a great way to share knowledge and stories of medical history. Sign up to the 'Recording the past' workshop at #ASM24BRIS to learn from an oral history expert about how you can do it too: bit.ly/3TcSbJA
Congratulations to Zana Bell, winner of the 2023 History & Heritage Research Grant!
A #history fellow @AucklandUni, Zana will be using the grant to research our archives and produce a biography about Auckland's first woman doctor and anaesthetist, Alice Horsley.
Last Friday we had the pleasure of hosting a group of registrars from @PeterMacCC.
Honorary curator @chrisball4 delivered a great talk on the fascinating, and sometimes extraordinary, history of anaesthesia, followed by a special #bts tour of the museum and collection.
We've added two fantastic oral histories to our collection to celebrate @ANZCA_FPM 25 year anniversary. Dr Penny Briscoe & Prof Pam Macintyre reflect on their careers and the evolution of #painmedicine in their interviews with Dr Gretel Davidson. Watch📺 anzca.edu.au/about-us/our-hi…
Working with fellows of @ANZCA_FPM we put together a little exhibition celebrating the 25 years of the Faculty. You can check it out online while enjoying #painSM23
