Ok I was so fucking wrong on so many levels. The TCG marketplaces are just a straight upgrade to eBay/alt/etc.
They only thing they are missing is more organic users
And so the broker said, "To who? You're the felt hat Pikachu man"
Pokémon cards just went institutional.
@MemeStrategy (HKEX:2440) launched what they’re calling the world’s first tokenized Pokémon trading card fund (for professional investors) via EVIDENT.
Flagship holding: PSA 10 “Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat”
• Estimated market cap: $94m
• PSA10 pop: ~47,000 (capped)
• Price: +400% since late 2023
• Goal: exposure to ~25% of available PSA10 supply

@phygitals can you guys double check wherever you are pulling prices from? There is no way the Charizard below is worth 69k. It's worth roughly 2k. The card is in terrible condition and even recent auctions are at like 2-2.5k. it's probably pulling for a shadowless 10 Charizard?
Given that alot of the market places for trading cards keep running out of stock, why not have a vampire attack on other marketplaces.
Something like: we'll give you x for certain cards if you send it to us. We'll take ownership but we'll split any sale with you.
Only in the greatest market on earth can someone list a legendary collection card for the price of a 1st edition, get 1.5x the value of the card and still be fielding offers like every 20 minutes. God bless putting the pokemon TCG on chain.
Realistically there does does exist arbitrage between the exchange and eBay listings but like the risk of moving product is very high and then some of these products may be very high but finding a buyer is difficult
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but all the pokemon TCG gatcha nonsense is eventually going to implode. If you thought moving nfts, in any size was difficult, trying moving moving pokemon cards in any size that top tier picks.
The only thing that I think can alleviate this, somewhat, would be to introduce some kind of lending services and also allowing users to buy/lending sealed products.
Although this just really kicks the can down the road and ultimately allows the problem to fester and get worse.
You guys play with such small eggs.
I have been hoarding eggs at an average price of 3 USD per dozen all to resell them before Easter so people can color eggs.
I gotta say, the trenches imploding after losing 9 figured is kind of hilarious.
Every other week during last cycle there were 9 figure losses and occasional 10 figure ones.
Call me a sidelined retard but I think when $trump tops (whenever that is), that's the end of the cycle (for alts and memes).
What other memecoin is there really to speculate on? This is as good as it gets.
