On or around this date in 2014: THE SURREY SHEEP WHO ATE £4,000 WORTH OF CANNABIS! Some sheep are content with grass. Others apparently prefer something a little more exotic! 😂 In October 2014, an unsuspecting flock of sheep at Fanny's Farm in Merstham, Surrey, stumbled upon a rather unusual addition to their grazing arrangements. Someone had dumped seven black bags containing cannabis plants at the edge of their field...And the sheep, being sheep, decided to investigate. By eating them. 🐑🌿 Not just a little nibble, either. The discarded plants reportedly had an estimated street value of £4,000! The farm's owner discovered that her woolly residents had helped themselves to the contents of the bags. She initially thought someone had dumped ordinary garden waste, until she investigated the rather distinctive smell... The sheep, meanwhile, appeared remarkably unconcerned about the commotion. The farm's shop manager, Nellie Budd, joked that although the animals weren't lying on their backs with their legs in the air, they might have had the munchies! Surrey Police attended, and the remaining cannabis was removed and destroyed. Officers described the dumping as irresponsible and appealed for information about those responsible.... As for the sheep? Contemporary reports suggested they had suffered no obvious ill effects. There is, however, no evidence that they actually became intoxicated; despite the irresistible headlines!
