Coeliac disease isn’t just a digestive condition, it can also impact fertility for both men and women. If you're struggling to conceive or have experienced recurrent miscarriages, it may be worth considering coeliac disease as a possible underlying cause. Many people remain undiagnosed, and this could be affecting their overall health and fertility, leading to subfertility issues. Learn more about how untreated coeliac disease can affect your chances of starting a family, and how diagnosis and treatment can make all the difference. We’d like to thank @StylistMagazine for covering this important and sensitive topic. You can read their article here: stylist.co.uk/.../infertilit…

Sainsbury’s is recalling by Sainsbury’s Onion Rings because they contain wheat (gluten), milk and soya which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya and/or an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, wheat or gluten and/or has coeliac disease. On 10 October, Channel 4's @BritishBakeOff: An Extra Slice unfortunately downplayed coeliac disease by implying that a gluten free diet was a choice rather than a medical necessity. We are deeply concerned about the remarks made by the presenters, which undermine the seriousness of coeliac disease. It is crucial for media platforms to engage in informed discussions about this serious autoimmune condition. We are actively following up with the producers of The Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice and encourage our community to do the same. You can read our open letter here, and we will share any responses we receive. In the meantime, we ask you to reach out to @Channel4 and request an on-air apology for the harmful portrayal of coeliac disease, and for them to engage with Coeliac UK to ensure accurate information is shared in the future. We aim to promote a better understanding of coeliac disease in mainstream media.

Today we launch our month long campaign to drive awareness of coeliac disease. Did you know that an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with undiagnosed coeliac disease? That’s why this year, we’re doubling down on our mission to find those individuals and guide them towards the answers they need. Throughout May, we're shedding light on the various faces of undiagnosed coeliac disease and uncovering lesser-known facts about associated conditions like Down’s syndrome and autoimmune thyroid disease. Our goal? To encourage as many as possible to take our free online self-assessment so they can get on the road to recovery faster. But we’re not stopping there! Our calendar is jam-packed with events - from local meetups to an online cook-along with our Ambassador @beckyexcell . Plus, we've got weekly blogs, podcasts, competitions, and so much more lined up! In addition to our community focused initiatives, we’re taking our campaign straight to the heart of legislative power across the UK. Following our successful reception in the Scottish Parliament last year, we’re hosting similar events in the Welsh Parliament (Senedd) and the Northern Ireland Assembly. We'll also be engaging policymakers across all four UK parliaments through questions, debates, and motions. You will also meet Mita, Anne, Tim, Joshua, his mum Dawn, and Joshua’s brother Joe - brave individuals who’ve shared their experiences as part of our campaign. Watch their video stories, and don’t forget to share your own on social media using our hashtags #CoeliacAwarenessMonth and #CoeliacStories. There are countless ways to amplify our message and support our cause. Share your story online, organise an awareness event, check for local volunteer-led activities, or simply keep an eye out for BFree Foods stone-baked pitta breads in your supermarket - 20p for every pack sold in May goes towards supporting Coeliac UK. How will you join in? Whether you're sharing your story, hosting an event, or supporting our cause in your community, every action counts.
