We must re-establish the link between finance and holistic development to drive sustainable development. For Africa, this means using our natural, human, and financial resources, not just to generate wealth, but to reinvest in the future of our people and communities. Botswana is a shining example of this approach. The country has achieved significant economic and social progress by reinvesting revenues from its diamond industry into education, infrastructure, and healthcare. This is the blueprint. Leveraging resources to build wealth, reduce inequalities, and transform our economies for the long term. Africa has the potential. Let’s commit to reinvesting in our development!

Congratulations @pk_mante … great work.
A team from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), led by Professor Priscilla Kolibea Mante of the Department of Pharmacology, has secured $5.1 million from Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited’s Global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme to strengthen climate-resilient health systems through the pharmacy workforce. The funding will support PharmAdapt, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the capacity of pharmacists to respond to the health effects of climate change. The project will be hosted by KNUST’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Professor Mante serves as Team Lead, with Professor Edmund Ekuadzi and Professor Samuel Asare-Nkansah serving as Technical Portfolio Leads. Learn more here⬇️ knust.edu.gh/news/news-items…

Cooking. Cleaning. Caring for children and older persons. Much of this essential work is unpaid and disproportionately carried out by women. How should social policy recognise the value of unpaid care work? #GETSPA #TransformativeSocialPolicy #CareEconomy

What if social policy guaranteed everyone a basic level of income security? Universal Basic Income (UBI) is increasingly being discussed as a pathway to more inclusive and transformative social policy. This will be a thread 🧵

UBI has the potential to reduce inequality by providing a secure income floor while recognising that everyone has a right to economic security, regardless of employment status.

It also brings greater visibility to unpaid care work. Because UBI is not tied to formal employment, it acknowledges the social and economic value of care work, much of which is carried out by women.
