Newton County: SR 11 & SR 142 is now a roundabout configuration! Continue using causing when navigating the area. The project is not over. Crews will continue working on site. Remaining tasks include construction of the center island, truck aprons, and curbs.

In Jefferson County, Reeves Construction Company has been awarded a $1.08 million project to make safety enhancements on Zebina Rd., between Middle Ground Rd. and Washington St. The project will add new striping, signage, and raised pavement markers to the route.

Additionally, the shoulder will be widened by two feet. A completion date of August 31, 2027 has been given.

Wilkes/Warren/McDuffie counties: The new bridge on State Route 80 at Little River is OPEN! Thank you to our contractor E.R. Snell for building the bridge and reopening the road two months ahead of schedule!

Progress continues on the State Route 44 widening projects. Crews on the Phase 1 project have started putting down graded aggregate base. Crews are also working to widen the existing bridge over I-20. Clearing continues on the Phase 2 project.

Newton County: Work is resuming on our roundabout project at SR 11 and SR 142! The contractor was ready to pave in May, but paving was delayed until the utility company finished relocating poles. Now that they have been relocated, the contractor will regrade to prepare to pave.

In Laurens County, Reeves Construction Company has been awarded a $2.84 million project to resurface more than four miles of State Route 31/US 441/US 319, between Interstate 16 and State Route 26/US 80. A completion date of July 31, 2027 has been given.

Peek Pavement Marking, LLC has been awarded a $767 thousand project to make signage and pavement marking upgrades at various railroad crossings in Burke, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Richmond, and Warren counties. A completion date of July 31, 2027 has been given.

All westbound lanes of I-20 are closed just past Exit 154 due to a crash. A crashed truck is blocking all lanes of I-20 westbound. I-20 is expected to be closed for multiple hours at this location as crews clean up the area. Georgia DOT is in the process of setting up a detour.

Detour: take Exit 154, follow US 278/SR 12 west to Crawfordville, follow SR 22 south to rejoin I-20 at Exit 148. Please note, Georgia DOT is not responsible for investigating or cleaning up the crash site.
