Do you really think that's why he's not playing?

Rico was in a 50/50 situation but he made the wrong decision Khusanov on the other hand, wasn't in a 50/50 situation, Any smart defender could have forced the winger back but Khusa invited him to get down the line far too easily because he rushed in. He keeps making the same mistake and that's why he's not playing

Yes. Iirc, it happened in the PSG game and Khusanov was at fault for Dias having to cover for him at RB because he was somewhere else. It's a fair expectation that Khusanov attempt cover for Rico on several occasions while he was involved higher up.
If Dias chased a runner to the by line and got beat by a pass would you still hold this moronic view ?

Khusanov's error in this instance was not winning the 1v1 imo. Rico should've handled the runner. Not a fan of the "headless chicken" rhetoric. I don't think this situation is quite the level of idiotic that you're characterising it as.
This is how the player received the ball with his back to goal, in a difficult situation and with an awkward body orientation, yet somehow he still managed to get past Khusanov so easily Of course Rico made a mistake, but as a CB you should read the situation better and try to cover or delay the attack instead of rushing in like a headless chicken, almost as if you helped him play right through you

It's not like he made a decision that put Rico in worse circumstances, or that made the team unnecessarily more open. Here, he failed because of his physical inability (bad at shifting his body to duel wingers) rather than a "brainless" decision.

I guess you could say that he shouldn't have engaged him if he knew he wasn't likely to win the duel, and just jockey. But that wouldn't really have made a different if Rico still doesn't track the runner.

Put him next to Bouaddi quickly🤔
Manchester City fans tried to hide this from me😂😂😂 He was actually good today.

I'd rather have Khusanov start and make occasional mistakes than sit on the bench (or play RB) and not develop. Let him simmer.

Especially if we're running with XIs that are suicidal OOP. We need his get-out-of-jail abilities.

Doku and Cherki should both be used primarily as super subs. Doku for the engergy against tired legs, and Cherki simply because a pissed off Cherki with a point to prove is the best Cherki. Him starting makes him lazy and less effective.

If Foden's level didn't drop, how likely is it that we'd have looked at the other guy?
This is real box crashing.

I also appreciate how Foden's been giving major props to his assisters.

Perhaps Doku and co need to dive more.
Picking the players who TRULY DESERVES to win the 2026 Ballon d'Or has NEVER been this difficult before. 🤔
