Wayne LaPierre just announced his resignation after more than 30 years as CEO of the NRA and just three days before he stands trial in a case brought by @NewYorkStateAG for alleged financial mismanagement and self-dealing. LaPierre’s alleged financial misconduct included $274,000 in spending at a high-end Italian clothing boutique in Beverly Hills, a luxury trip on a mega yacht to the Bahamas for him and his wife three days after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook School, and approximately $2 million on private flights in just one year, among other lavish expenses on the NRA’s dime. For years, Wayne LaPierre has pushed an agenda that has cost countless lives, fueled armed extremism, and endangered our communities. His legacy will be one of corruption, mismanagement, and destruction. The trial begins on Monday. Thoughts and prayers to Wayne LaPierre and the NRA.

It’s not video games. It’s not doors. It’s not kids on medication. It’s easy access to guns. 76% of school shooters get their guns from their homes. Secure your guns if you don’t want your kid to become a school shooter. #CampaignToKeepKidsSafe

This #NewYearsEve, STOP celebratory gunfire! When fired in the air, bullets can return at speeds greater than 200 feet per second, & can penetrate the skull. @CDCgov In 2021, 2 people were killed on NYE in Texas, including a child & in North Carolina, a woman was killed.

In my life: one president, his brother, 3 civil rights leaders, my brother, John Lennon, my nephew, my grandson. In my life, I loved them all. #EndGunViolence
Over 1.5 million people have been killed by guns in the U.S.A. since John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8, 1980.

When access to guns becomes more important to us Christians than access to insulin, access to healthcare, or access to lunches at school, that is a sign of a broken Christianity.

Vote for Democrats if you don’t want to get shot anywhere & everywhere. #VoteGunSafety2024 #EndGunViolence
Republicans blocked action on gun safety yesterday and prevented the Senate from passing life-saving legislation. Hours later: we learned of yet another shooting on the campus of the UNLV. We pray for the victims and their families, and we will keep working to end gun violence.

The most sacred duty of Congress is to protect the American people—especially our children. 11 years after Sandy Hook, we have failed. Doing nothing to prevent gun violence is cowardly and shameful. Until we take action, innocent children will continue to die.

I’m thankful that no one was injured. Thank you to our brave first responders. As Hannukah begins tonight, we must stand together to guard against rapidly growing antisemitism and to keep people safe.
Earlier today, shots were fired on the premises of Temple Israel in Albany. A 28-year-old man is in custody & thankfully, no one was injured.

I want to give a massive shoutout to @po_murray whose outstanding leadership in the fight to end gun violence is always apparent. She has been working tirelessly around the clock for 11 years to save lives. The movement simply would not be where it is today without her.

This censure vote against @RepBowman is a complete and total waste of time. Maybe if we had more educators in Congress, they’d be able to give my Republican colleagues a class on how to truly govern.

On the same day a gunman shot and killed three people and wounded one other person on the campus of UNLV, Senate Republicans blocked efforts by Democrats to pass critical gun safety legislation that would help prevent gun violence that is terrorizing our schools and communities. When will Republicans stand up to the gun lobby so we don’t have to stand up to gunmen? thehill.com/homenews/senate/…

At the Annual Vigil for Gun Violence Victims, our champions stood alongside hundreds of survivors and victims to honor the lost. Notably absent? Any "pro-life" politician. If they truly aim to save lives and protect kids, they'd stand with victims, and fight for the living.

Ethan’s mother, @kristinsong3, is in the audience at the 11th Annual National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence. Today, Senate Republicans filibustered the assault weapons ban, Ethan’s Law to #KeepKidsSafe from unsecured guns, and universal background check bills.
