We continue to engage women and girls in flood prone areas in Mbale district to build their resilience to food insecurity. 240 women have been trained in this phase - women CAN!. They do not only grow food together, they also save money together.
Environmental defenders who challenge mining, logging and land interests get targeted. Women and girls face extra abuse: sexualised threats, fake images, threats to their families. All of it is meant to silence them. We will not be silenced. ✊#EHRDs #WomenDefenders #ClimateJustice

Across 10 schools, young minds stepped up with local solutions to the biggest problems they face in their immediate communities
Meet the champions, a team of brilliant young girls from Iganga Secondary School! 💡
To save local retail shop owners like Aunt Kaduuka from losing stock to spoilage, they engineered the Igabank Cooler.
Powered by water, charcoal, and natural evaporative cooling, it keeps vegetables crisp for up to 7 days, zero electricity needed! 🍅🥬

For 3 years, students at PMM Girls' School have turned waste into value; crafting plastic pavers, baskets, food warmers and more. ♻️
But making great eco-products is only half the battle. To beat the market gap, this year they launched a dedicated e-commerce website to showcase, market, and sell their innovations to the world! 💻✨
MM College Wairaka didn't just clean up plastic waste, they turned it into comfort. 🪑♻️
Touched by the lack of proper seating during an outreach to an island community, these students engineered affordable, durable plastic furniture specifically for school-going children on the island!

Student innovators showcased brilliant solutions,from low-cost water purification and affordable cooling to automatic irrigation systems with all targeted at addressing real climate challenges in their communities and schools.
🏆 @IgangaSS emerged as the champion, with PMM Girls’ School securing the runner-up position, both receiving cash prizes to help refine, scale, and further commercialize their innovations.
