A 16 year old kid, who cannot legally possess a firearm, entered a school to shoot people, which is also illegal, but was chased, shot, and killed by a man who legally owned a pistol.
Sounds to me like the 2nd Amendment saves lives.
Police have shared that three children, ages 5, 8 and 11, and one teacher were fatally shot at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. A 7-year-old was also injured.
America's gun violence crisis is killing our babies. Enough is enough.

Police confirm a community member pursued the 16-year-old shooter into the school and fatally shot him before officers arrived, ending the attack. The district banned CHL carry on grounds via SB554, which Giffords supported.

Going to be vulnerable for a minute.
Remember Mr. Incredible, stuck in a cubicle, doing a soul-crushing job, missing the life where his work actually mattered?
He clocks out, comes home to the chaos of family, and no one sees the weight he’s carrying. The pressure to stay strong. To provide. To not fall apart.
A lot of us know that feeling.
We miss the excitement we had when we were younger. The purpose that used to feel obvious. The version of ourselves that didn’t have to wonder if this is all there is.
It’s okay to feel that. I feel it too.
But this is just another chapter. Joseph didn’t get to pick his circumstances either. Prison, a foreign house, years of obscurity. He still did his work with everything he had, because the assignment was in front of him, not behind him.
This season might also be for healing. For recharging. For becoming the man the next chapter needs.
Don’t miss what’s right in front of you while you’re mourning what used to be.
Be a present husband. Father. Son. Brother. Friend.
Build with your church. Get in the work. Be a light on the hill.
There are seasons for everything. This one will pass too.
I don’t know if I’m writing this for someone else, or just so I don’t forget it myself.
Love God. Love people.

Therapy should increase your capacity to face reality.
If it only gives you more sophisticated language for avoiding responsibility, it has made you weaker.

Some members of the church try to justify their pro-choice position by using the argument of agency. According to Pres. Oaks, that is not only an unsound argument, but also evidence that they have been seduced by the philosophies of the world.
“Pro-choice slogans have been particularly seductive to Latter-day Saints because we know that moral agency, which can be described as the power of choice, is a fundamental necessity in the gospel plan. All Latter-day Saints are pro-choice according to that theological definition. But being pro-choice on the need for moral agency does not end the matter for us. Choice is a method, not the ultimate goal. We are accountable for our choices, and only righteous choices will move us toward our eternal goals.” - Dallin H. Oaks

H.R. 6022 is moving forward, to establish national recognition for families who have lost a Veteran to suicide. These families have waited long enough to be seen.
Today, we're asking you to do two things:
📷 SIGN THE PETITION
Add your name and help us show Congress that Americans across the country support recognition for these families.

📷 CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE

Find your member of Congress. Call. Email. Tell them you support H.R. 6022 and ask them to support and help move the bill forward.
That's it. One signature matters. One email matters. One phone call matters.
But thousands of us doing it together? That's how we make Congress pay attention.

My dear Wormwood,
You still think in terms of churches and arguments. That is why you fail. The churches can be left standing. What must be spoiled is the literature that taught the young to love the Enemy before they could define Him.
Narnia is one of the more irritating of those books. Children meet Aslan first as adventure and only later discover they have been handling Christ. That is dangerous. Direct attack only makes the stories more precious. So we do not ban them. We adapt them.
Give the Voice to a so-called celebrated actress. Leave the mane. Leave the pronouns. Then the thing that was a male Christ-supposition becomes a prestige performance. The story remains famous; the meaning becomes negotiable. In a generation the story will still be beloved, but the beloved thing will no longer be Lewis’s Lion. It will be the version that flatters the age.
That is how the Enemies literature is destroyed without the vulgarity of a bonfire. Keep the title. Change the sound. When the children hear Aslan, let them hear the present century speaking through Him. Once that habit is formed, the Enemies stories survive as brands. Their doctrine does not.
Do not call it persecution. Call it interpretation. The patients prefer that word, and it does our work admirably.
Your affectionate uncle,
SCREWTAPE
Meryl Streep will officially voice Aslan in Greta Gerwig’s ‘NARNIA: THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW’.

Real men are accountable for their actions, acknowledge their mistakes, apologize, and try to set things right. I met some real men recently, members of my home ward I want to tell you about.
Recently, my wife Ruth substituted as a teacher in a youth Sunday School class. The students were 12- and 13-year-old young men and young women. Some of the young men were acting like, well, 12- and 13-year-old young men. They were a bit casual and less than engaged than ideal in the lesson about Job. Ruth had given the students a handout with some scriptures to read. Of course, paper airplanes were made of the handouts (is anyone surprised?). Ruth who is an excellent and adaptable teacher collected the airplanes, continued with the lesson, and thought no more about it.
On the following Thursday evening, we had a knock on our door. Three of the young men were on the porch. They handed Ruth a letter that read:
Dear Sister Renlund,
We want to apologize for our behavior in Sunday School. We meant no disrespect even though our actions said otherwise. We failed to meet our duty as Deacons and we are sorry. We have learned from our mistake and better learned what our Aaronic Priesthood duty is.
We have made a bouquet of paper airplanes for you to show our appreciation for teaching our class and for helping us learn our duty better. Thank you for what you do for the Church.
Love,
The Deacons Quorum
I am grateful for their example to me of being priesthood holders and real men.

The ability to leave your wife much unless you were quite wealthy is a somewhat modern phenomenon with the invention of life insurance. I think he is referring here more to the historical cultural norm of caring for widows

When the Lord has a work for us to do, He does not always make it easy, but He does always make it possible.
During our inspired experience on the islands of Chuuk in the Federated States of Micronesia earlier this week, the Holy Ghost again witnessed to us that the Lord blesses and enables us when we choose to act and follow Him in faith.

A truth I hope will sink deeply into your soul is that your best is certainly good enough, that you are loved more than you can imagine, and that it isn't your achievements that define you, far less that determine anything about your worth or how you are seen by your Father in Heaven and His Son.
