DRDO & Indian Army signed a Joint Working Arrangement on 25 Aug 2026 to accelerate development of futuristic military technologies for bringing together DRDO, industry, academia & the Armed Forces.
The JWA was signed today between DG Technology Management, DRDO and DG Military Operations, IHQ of MoD (Army), in the presence of Defence Secretary, Secretary DDR&D & Chairman DRDO.
It institutionalises the collaboration between F&T Cell, Indian Army and Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management, DRDO through DIA-CoEs.

The @DRDO_India has successfully conducted the maiden flight test of Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile Kusha today from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
Kusha missile system is capable of neutralising wide variety of aerial threats including fighter jets, missiles, UAVs and large enemy aircrafts within a wide range and altitude envelope.
Today’s successful test flight of Kusha marks an important milestone in Indian defence R&D. The capability in developing long range surface-to-air missile system is possessed only by a handful of nations. This will also eliminate the import dependency for such systems and signifies a giant leap in air defence capability of the nation. I congratulate DRDO and other stakeholders for this achievement.

#IITHyderabad embarks on a project to develop 100 kg premium metal powder manufacturing facility for Additive Manufacturing & Aerospace.
This will be India's largest indigenous clean metal/alloy powder manufacturing unit through gas atomisation.
The institute collaborates with DMRL @DRDO_India and industry (Innomet Advanced Materials Ltd.) in this project for manufacturing powder.
This initiative is funded by DFTM @FutureTechDRDO.

A seminar on “Current Conflicts & Beyond: Technology Transformation & Future of Wars” was organised by DRDO and Center for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) at DRDO Bhawan today to commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor.
The seminar was inaugurated with special video message of Gen Anil Chauhan, CDS emphasising joint war fighting capabilities, tri-services integration and the centrality of technology in shaping India’s security posture.
The event was started with welcome by Dr Ranjana Nallamalli, Director DFTM, DRDO and setting the tone by Lt Gen Dushyant Singh, DG CLAWS
Dr U K Singh, DG(SSS), DRDO delivered the inaugural address followed by Dr Prateek Kishore, DG (ACE), DRDO sharing the technological perspectives of future and emerging defence requirements.
Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, DCAS, presented "Technological Takeaways from Operation Sindoor," offering a definitive assessment of how precision-guided munitions, real-time surveillance, and network-centric warfare assets shaped the operational outcomes of the mission and the enduring lessons they carry for force modernisation.
A special session on Technological Takeaways were organised which was chaired by Lt Gen Vipul Shinghai, DCOAS (IS&T) in which Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, (DCAS), Lt Gen Rahul R singh, DCOAS (CD&S) , Vice Admiral S N Ghormade, Former VCNS & Dr Prateek Kishore, DG(ACE) shared their insights.

A National Facility for Compo-Rheo Die Casting (CRDC) was inaugurated by Secretary DDR&D and Chairman DRDO in the presence of Prof Govindan Rangarajan, Director @iiscbangalore on 11 April 2026 at IISc Bengaluru campus.
The event also marked the formal handover of project deliverables matured under the joint research projects of DIA-RCoE and IISc Bengaluru.
The occasion highlighted the strong collaborative framework of DIA-CoE between DRDO and IISc, in fostering innovation and accelerating technology translation, being coordinated by @FutureTechDRDO under the Technology Management Cluster.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary DD(R&D) and Chairman DRDO, today inaugurated 12th DRDO Young Scientists Meet-2026 (YSM-2026) at Hyderabad in the presence of DG(MSS), DG(HR), Director ASL and Director DHRD.
Each year DRDO organises YSM with the aim of building technical cohesion among young scientists. The event is being organised by DHRD DRDO HQ in collaboration with ASL Hyderabad during 30 March-01 April 2026.
The theme of the event is “Together We Grow”. Over 200 young scientists from various DRDO Labs/Estts are participating in this three days event lined up with various interesting technical, motivational and team building sessions.

The @IITKgp proudly inaugurated the DRDO Industry Academia–Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) on 21 February 2026, reinforcing its commitment to advancing India’s strategic and indigenous defence technologies.
The Centre was inaugurated by Dr. S. V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence (R&D) and Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in the distinguished presence of Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur; Shri L.C. Mangal, Director General (Technology Management), DRDO; Dr. N. Ranjana, Director, Directorate of Futuristic Technology Management (DFTM), DRDO; Prof. Rintu Banerjee, Deputy Director, IIT Kharagpur and Prof. Dipak Das, Director, DIA-CoE, IIT Kharagpur, along with eminent scientists, faculty members, and industry leaders.
The establishment of the DIA-CoE marks a significant milestone in fostering robust collaboration among academia, industry, start-ups, and defence research establishments. The Centre aims to catalyse the development of futuristic, cutting-edge technologies that address emerging national security challenges while strengthening India’s self-reliance in critical defence domains.
The inauguration was followed by a one-day seminar on “Advancements in Technologies for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles and Future Trends," organised by the DIA-CoE's research vertical, Unmanned Underwater Robotic Sensors & Actuators. The seminar convened leading experts from premier institutions and research laboratories to deliberate on emerging innovations, advanced sensor technologies, autonomous systems, and collaborative research pathways in the field of unmanned underwater vehicles. The event underscored the strategic importance of DRDO–Academia–Industry partnerships in accelerating translational research, nurturing high-impact innovation ecosystems, and advancing indigenous technological capabilities.
With the launch of the DIA-CoE, IIT Kharagpur further strengthens its position as a national leader in research-driven innovation, contributing meaningfully to India’s vision of technological excellence and defence preparedness.
