I started a Substack newsletter! It's called No Man Is an Island, and I'll be arguing that capitalism (not feminism) is why so many men are struggling these days. I'll also be offering ideas and practices to help men heal and grow. Subscribe for free: nomanisanisland.substack.com

“Democrats are right to speak out against Republicans yet I have mysteriously said nothing about Trump targeting Ilhan Omar and seeking to deport her because this is somehow less dangerous than what a twitch streamer said seven years ago”
As Democrats, we are right to speak out when Republicans spread hateful rhetoric. We have the same responsibility when it comes from our own side.
Hasan Piker’s record of hateful rhetoric is clear. Senator Omar Fateh and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar should not lend him their platform.
My full statement:
Men should be threatened by:
✊ Attacks on unions
👮♂️ Fascist crackdowns on protest
🏦 Corps lobbying for deregulation
💻 Capitalist state surveillance
🤑 Billionaires dividing us
Men should not be threatened by:
👭 Women angry about the Cornell Seven
♀️Feminism
🌹Socialism

As Republicans demonize @AngieNixon, and JD Vance tells her "you don't belong in America," they run the risk of having it backfire. Nixon can be a compelling figure. Here she is getting emotional when I asked her to tell voters something personal about herself. @CBSMiami

I’m old enough to remember when Gretchen Whitmer, a Blue Cross Blue Shield heir, rallied private health insurance interests to defeat Abdul El-Sayed who was running on a state-wide Medicare for All platform.

I am absolutely thrilled to have Gov @GretchenWhitmer’s endorsement for U.S. Senate. She is a champion for our state, she understands the stakes of this race and why it’s so important we elect the strongest Dem in this primary, and she gets stuff done for Michigan. Let’s go win!

Tell me you’ve never actually spent time talking to educators without telling me. The disrespect to us and our profession is loud and clear. This is a fantasyland about what IMPACT claims to be on paper versus reality. Try lasting 1 year here under it and you’ll know.
Today’s Capital Commonsense piece from @JHWeissmann is a great one on education and the future of accountability in DCPS. This has gotten little attention in local media thus far.

My god the art of these passive, tortured headlines against directly acknowledging Israeli atrocities.
We are the dumbest country my God
❓NBC News to Iran’s FM:
“Sir, how can attacking U.S. military bases abroad be justified?”
💬 FM Araghchi:
Because they are attacking us. These US military installations, facilities, bases are being used to attack us. We are under attack. Why don’t you, you know, recognize this this fact? We are under an attack from you. This is obvious. This is a very simple fact. I hope that, I am sure that people would understand that we are not the one who attacked Americans. We are defending ourselves.

The irony is, per the Epstein files, Jay Z was recruited to put down unrest over BLM. Matt should be thanking him. They're on the same side.
Jay Z took over producing the Super Bowl halftime show in 2019. Since then, white performers have been banned from the show. There hasn't been a single white headliner at the Super Bowl in 7 years, with the lone exception of Eminem who performed alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop, Kendrick Lamar and other black artists.

Devastating news about Asad Haider. He was an inspiration - Viewpoint dug up buried treasures of Marxist theory, not as an end in itself but to enrich our political imagination, as his PhD thesis and his book on race and class brilliantly showcased share.google/kZdw3SOcFV86Kfk…

A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.
It was a little different last week.

personally I don't think it was misogyny for protesters to ask AOC to call the Gaza genocide a genocide

Seriously, does @ezraklein have no one in his life, no editor, no friend, to tell him not to publish this? If you’re Black or trans or an immigrant or Arab or a woman — how can you read a word Ezra without thinking: This is a guy who will excuse extreme violence & bigotry against me as secondary to the *checks notes* belief in the “continued possibility of American politics.”
