🧵 THREAD: “Max drawdown” might be the most dangerous phrase in prop trading.
1/ “Max drawdown” might be the most dangerous phrase in prop trading, because the same two words can hide three different rules.
👇
⏰ 4/ END-OF-DAY: only checks once a day, so intraday swings matter less and overnight math matters more.
⚠️ 5/ Same label, three different risks. Before you trust any headline number, find out which one you’re actually signing up for.

There’s a lot of talk that the big players have pulled liquidity out of the market, and price action could get messy for the rest of this year and into next year.
But do you actually believe that’s what’s happening?
Are we in for months of unpredictable moves, fakeouts, and stop hunts, or is the market just doing what it does best, keeping traders guessing?
What’s your take? 👇
💥 Cause of death: “I’ll close it manually.”
📊 Every account autopsy finds the same thing: the trade that was never supposed to run that far, did.
🔒 It’s why many firms make stop losses mandatory on funded accounts,
📉 and why the best traders make them mandatory for themselves long before anyone asks.

📈 The setup was right.
📊 The analysis was right.
✅ Even the direction, eventually, was right.
💥 Cause of death: the size.
📉 The position was so big that a perfectly normal pullback became a breach before the idea ever had a chance to play out.
🧠 Being right is not a risk plan.
🔒 Daily limits exist precisely for the day you’re sure.

🕘 9:32 AM — First loss.
Small. Planned. Survivable. ✅
💥 Cause of death? The next FOUR entries.
❌None of them planned.
📈 Each one bigger than the last.
⏰ All before lunch.
🧠 Revenge trading never loses you just one trade.
It loses you the account that was perfectly fine ten minutes ago. 📉💀
🛑 The cure?
🔒 Set a HARD per-trade risk cap before the day starts.

📅 Economic Calendar — Week of October 13–17
Inflation week, and the last big test before the Fed’s Oct 28 decision. September CPI lands Wednesday with October hike odds already down to ~17%, so this is the print that either revives the hike debate or buries it until December. Bank earnings season kicks off alongside. (Monday was Columbus Day, bonds closed.)
🟡 Tue — Quiet data day. US NFIB Small Business Optimism and Existing Home Sales. Fed’s Waller and Barkin speak. Big banks open earnings: JPMorgan, Goldman, Wells Fargo, Citi.
🔴 Wed — THE BIG ONE. US CPI + Core CPI (September) at 12:30 GMT. Core seen holding ~2.4%, headline ~3.6-3.7%. A soft core buries the October hike; a 0.3%+ print reopens it. Fed’s Beige Book at 18:00 GMT. BofA and Morgan Stanley report.
🔴 Thu — Busy US session at 12:30 GMT: PPI, Retail Sales, Jobless Claims and Philly Fed all land together. UK GDP earlier. Warsh speaks, the last major Fed voice before the blackout. Australia jobs overnight.
🟠 Fri — US UoM Consumer Sentiment prelim at 14:00 GMT, with inflation expectations at a multi-month high and closely watched. A quieter finish.
🏛️ CPI is what matters. With a hike seen as unlikely in October (~17%), the market’s real question is December. A hot core print pulls December odds higher and lifts the dollar; a soft one cements the “Fed’s done hiking” view. Warsh’s Thursday remarks are the final tone check before the pre-FOMC blackout.
⚠️ CPI Wednesday and a stacked Thursday data drop is a recipe for fast, two-way moves, with bank earnings running underneath. If your account’s stretched, sizing down or stepping aside around the 12:30 GMT blocks Wednesday and Thursday is the smart play.

🚩Red Flag Friday🚩
🚨#1. You can’t read the full rules before you pay.🚨
The rules are the product, and a firm that hides them until after checkout is telling you how the whole relationship will go.
📌 The check takes one minute: from the pricing page, can you find the complete terms, not the FAQ, before entering a card number?
If not, that was the review.

FOMO is the only monster that attacks after the move is over. 👹
The candle already flew, and it still convinces you the party is just getting started. 📈
📌 Sticky note: There will be another trade.
There is always another trade. 🎯

📅 Economic Calendar — Week of October 5–9
Breather week, and the tone has flipped. Friday's weak jobs report cratered October hike odds to ~23% (from ~58%), unwinding the hawkish bets that built all last month. A light calendar means little to challenge that, so Wednesday's FOMC minutes and the Fedspeak around them carry the week.
🟠 Mon (Oct 5) — US ISM Services PMI (exp ~55.1 vs 55.4), the week's top data point, watch new orders and prices paid. Final services PMIs across the Eurozone, UK and US. China on Golden Week holiday all week.
⚪ Tue (Oct 6) — Quiet. US Trade Balance (August) and weekly ADP employment. BoJ Governor Ueda speaks. Treasury 3-year note auction.
🔴 Wed (Oct 7) — The big one. September FOMC minutes (typically 18:00 GMT). Markets want to see how much support there was for more tightening beyond the dot plot, and whether the hike was as unanimous as it looked. Jobless Claims (exp ~195K) earlier.
🟠 Thu (Oct 8) — ECB monetary policy accounts (minutes). More Fedspeak. A thinner session before Friday's data.
🟠 Fri (Oct 9) — Canada jobs report at 12:30 GMT, the week's key release outside the US. US UoM Consumer Sentiment prelim at 14:00 GMT, with inflation expectations closely watched.
🏛️ FOMC minutes are what matter. After Friday's soft payrolls flipped the October outlook dovish, traders will comb the minutes for how committed the Fed really is to further hikes. A hawkish tone clashes with the new data and could jolt the dollar; a cautious one cements the dovish repricing.
⚠️ A light week can still bite. The minutes Wednesday and Canadian jobs Friday are the volatility windows, and thin post-NFP liquidity can exaggerate moves. If your account's stretched, keep size sensible around those two blocks.
