I will reset Nigeria in just four years after I become president in 2027 —Governor Seyi Makinde Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has declared his intention to lead what he described as a “reset” of Nigeria, saying his proposed RESET agenda can be achieved within four years if he becomes president in 2027. Speaking to supporters, Makinde described himself as a resetter and asked the audience whether they were also ready to reset the country, receiving an affirmative response. He said the country could be transformed within four years, citing the example of a former head of state who, according to him, spent 10 months in office and was able to end military rule and usher in the democratic system Nigeria currently operates. Makinde said his agenda would focus on security, education, the economy and the socio-political environment. “So, we can reset this country reset and give Nigeria a new security architecture, reset and give Nigeria a new path for education, reset our economy utilizing data, science, and logic, and reset our socio-political environment in four years,” he said. He further stated that, if elected president, his administration would begin on May 29, 2027, and operate a transitional government of national unity. “So, as your president from May 29, 2027, we will run a transitional government of national unity that will culminate in new players and a new agenda for Nigeria’s sustainable development,” Makinde said. He ended his address by invoking God’s help and asking for blessings for Nigerians and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
