Hi Full Plate Family!
As of last night, all of our grocery gift cards have been sent out to over 400 restaurant workers. 🥗 🥕 🥦
To our recipients and everyone who supported us, thanks for being a part of our hospitality community 💜

Yes, thank god Hollywood was here to bring “the reckoning”.
Not workers, or industry leaders or the thousands, people who left the industry because of unfair hours and pay, and inequitable treatment.
But sure, I guess let’s give credit to a streaming service.
In Opinion
Hulu’s "The Bear" is resonating partly "because it shows workers demanding a better workplace, one where their work is valued and they are respected — which is happening in restaurants and beyond," Saru Jayaraman writes in a guest essay.

One way to celebrate and educate this month is to dive into some Black owned and operated podcasts that centre Black voices and experiences from Toronto and beyond #BHM
@AffirmativeMur1 @cbcpodcasts @frequencypods
This month we have been periodically sharing stories of Black activists, artists, voices, and influential firegues that have shaped and continue to shape our experience in this life.

The diversity that makes Toronto special isn’t often reflected in the stories & discussions we hear/have.
Black Tea will change that. Black Tea is a podcast for and by Black Canadians, hosts Melayna Williams and @daltonhiggins5 dig into Black culture, news and sports.
Last in this series @AffirmativeMur1 is a true crime comedy podcast hosted by Alvin Williams and @FranEvans91 mostly on minority serial killers. Each week they swap murder stories from marginalized communities, The podcast trying to bring equality along with comedy to true crime
The blood is boiling.
Maybe when restaurant workers get things like dignified and safer working conditions, equitable wages, breaks, oh and NOT BEING THE NUMBER 1 PROFESSION LIKELY TO DIE FROM COVID, maybe then we will “smile” more.
SMH. Unbelievable.
