Kraken Robotics’ Sub-Bottom Imager (SBI) has been deployed across offshore wind developments in Europe, Asia, and North America providing reliable cable detection and 3D acoustic imaging of buried infrastructure across a wide range of seabed conditions. In Taiwan alone, Kraken has supported surveys across seven of the country’s eight offshore wind farms, from its earliest offshore wind projects through to current developments. Across projects in the region, SBI has achieved cable detection rates of more than 95%. Imaging buried cables is a difficult technical challenge. Sediment type, burial depth, cable construction, and seabed complexity can all affect acoustic performance. SBI has been purpose-built and continually refined for this application, drawing on years of operational experience across commercial offshore projects.
