Max Verstappen speaking to De Telegraaf Are you someone who immediately pauses to reflect on everything you have achieved at such a moment? Max Verstappen: “Well, to be honest, I had no idea this would be my 250th race. I do watch all the races back, mind you: good or bad. That is more to get a better picture of the races and to see and hear certain things, including from other teams. But it’s not like I think back a lot to, for example, Abu Dhabi 2021, when I took my first world title. From this season, I particularly like remembering the last races in Malaysia and Baku, because things were going better again then. But from the first half of this year, I’ve already erased quite a few races from my hard drive…” You are bursting with self-confidence and are completely convinced of your own abilities. Was that already the case in your debut year (2015)? MV:“I knew I still had a lot to learn and that takes time. But deep down, as a driver, you always have to think that you can at least be the best. That’s always been my mindset. I also think that the first few years at Red Bull Racing, say from 2016 through 2018, were very educational; working alongside a more experienced driver like Daniel Ricciardo and as a youngster in a top team, in a larger environment. In early 2018, there were races that didn't go as they should have. But I have proven since then that I learned from them.” [telegraaf.nl/sport/autosport…]
