🚨 This afternoon, I was honoured to close the #FINAS2025 Summit at @KICC_Nairobi.
Over the last few days, we’ve reaffirmed a powerful truth: Africa can sustainably finance its agri-food systems.
From policy shifts to bold innovations, we are rethinking how we unlock capital for food security, climate resilience & inclusive growth. 🌱🌍
🔹 MSMEs & cooperatives are at the core of this transformation.
🔹 Cooperatives drive financial inclusion, especially in rural areas—empowering smallholder farmers through aggregation, affordable credit & collective resilience.
🔹 They are the people’s platform for equitable access and shared prosperity.
🔹 Organizing MSMEs into cooperatives and SACCOs offers a clear path to sustainable financing and stronger bargaining power.
We must also:
✅ Elevate youth & women in food systems
✅ Embrace technology & data
✅ Build inclusive policy frameworks
✅ Adopt innovative financing for smallholders
The adoption of the Kampala Declaration signals a strong continental commitment to increased investment in agri-food systems.
Let’s act. Let’s innovate. Let’s cooperate. Because Africa’s food future is ours to finance. 💪🏾
To all FINAS partners, stakeholders, and delegates: Asanteni sana.
