Amazing to discover that none of this is actually screwed into the stonework … it’s a work of genius. @hhsmithbuilders

Fabulous turnout last night for @AL00100110AL talk about the 26th Earl of Crawford. We needed more seats to accommodate everyone. Everyone was spellbound with the life and times of Ludovic, and his expeditions to far away places in pursuit of knowledge of the heavenly skies. ✨☄️

#ThrowbackThursday 1840 - Lord Bal, Earl 24, with his staff beside newly completed Haigh Hall. Architect for the Hall and the Plantation Gates. He could build solid masonry, it is still as solid today … almost 200 years later. #ourhaighhall Source: The Lindsay’s of Balcarres.

#wednesdayworkinprogress The once green Parbold Stone now cleaned and looking so good. Cracked chimney pots sent away for moulds to be recast. They have sent a version of each pot. Such attention to detail.❤️ It’s all beginning to come together nicely 🤩 #ourhaighhall

Let’s go back in time on #throwbackthursday to the 1930s and Wigan Rowing Club, when the President is listed as The Right Hon. The Earl of Crawford and Balcarres. Sadly, as you can see in the pics below, the scene is very different today… #ourhaighhall Pics by Wigan World

We have always felt it a privilege to have been able to do this, and I have put in the forefront of my mind my intention that these benefits should be available for the public to an even greater degree than hitherto and in perpetuity." 3/3

A letter from the Earl to the Town Clerk, 19/3/47, prior to the sale, stated
"The Hall and all it has stood for, and the Plantations which have for generations been placed by my Family at the disposal of all our neighbours, have meant much in the life of the District.2/3
