Quietly building an empire.
EXCLUSIVE: The Last Straw looking to open in the former Bar Pilar space at the end of the month. Read about their plans and prepare for a properly poured Guinness! - See which teams they'll be home to. Also they want to know which college team to support: popville.com/2026/10/the-lasβ¦
2nd food that comes to mind is smoked turkey. Because the moment my dad bought a smoker and perfected his recipe it was wrap. He'd be back there smoking turkeys for family members, for neighbors, for the community raffle! That man was the turkey master.

Not the biggest fan of the person you're referring to but I think his point was that because of Eebee's, other new bars are going to try to dub themselves as "neighborhood bars" from a marketing standpoint.
I think. (Ugh, how am I defending him?)

Just say YOU don't like beer. It's okay.
Unpopular opinion; No one - literally not a soul - actually enjoys the taste of beer. Not a single human. Those who claim to enjoy beer, donβt actually. Itβs really just a social ritual, a form of self deceptionβ¦ the impact of decades of stacked marketing to convince you that beer is anything but an alcohol delivery mechanism. You can enjoy getting sloshed. You can enjoy the social liberation that alcohol offers. You can enjoy the party. But donβt act like you actually like the taste of beer. You donβt. You might think you do. But you donβt. Because it tastes like it looks: bitter dehydrated piss, with bubbles. In the case of Guinness, like diarrhea, with bubbles. And you know it.
This weather is great but it means the mosquitoes are sticking around. Can we get a week of below 50 degree weather so they can die already?
Question: Do I like this negroni that I made in which I swapped out vermouth and replaced it with red wine more?
I think so?
So I already knew that 2027 was going to be a double milestone year for me personally and professionally. I turn 50 in February and this will be my 20th year in Specialty Coffee. However...
Does this mean I want to open a cafe? Possibly, but not necessarily. I genuinely have no idea what the next step is. For all I know I could step away from the industry altogether, not to brag but my career has been pretty exemplary.
