Most 24 yr olds are super short sighted like this. The best and the brightest among them will have a more holistic view.
People call me crazy when I tell them I contribute solely to my taxable brokerage and 0% to my 401k. I’m not locking my money up for 40 years for an employer match. What I did instead: built my taxable brokerage accounts. Created large positions in index funds and great companies, also built monthly dividend income to over $2,000 per month. Liquidity is my whole game at 24.

@Codie_Sanchez left a finance career managing hundreds of millions in assets to buy laundromats, car washes and roofing companies, then built a 15-million-follower movement teaching others to do the same. Contrarian Thinking now operates across media, investment and advisory, and her new book Own or Be Owned is built around one core idea: know yourself before you follow anyone else's formula. Every single month that goes by where we enforce a $75 minimum wages for >99 unit buildings, we lose thousands of units of desperately needed housing, including many affordable. If a policy causes you to build like 5 buildings in total, it's a failed policy.

People are saying household income has gone up only because more adults are living at home with their parents. My perspective is simply that more people are educated than ever.

I thought the tweet below must be omitting some critical context or paraphrasing the text ungenerously. But no, the NYT actually published an op-ed that claims the University of California hasn't sacrificed excellence even though it admits students who struggle with basic math.
This op-ed can’t be real: “Students on University of California campuses may struggle with basic math, but they are graduating at record rates.” “What has made the University of California exceptional is its commitment to increase access without sacrificing excellence.”

She worked at one of the best hospitals in the country as a labor & delivery nurse. Her husband worked for a big tech company making $400k. She had better access to healthcare than just about anyone in the USA. That was not the issue. If anything the discussion should be about reopening asylums.

This is utterly absurd. Coming from someone who will probably see a third of their income gambling? Most people should NOT be doing the same thing. People do not have the patience, discipline or understanding of EV to be doing that with $1,000
If you have more than $1,000 in your bank account, The most responsible thing to do with that money is sports bet. You simply can make more money sports betting than anything else in the world right now…. Including investing.

Finally, after 14 months of uncertainty, my fix to restore the 100% tax deduction for gambling losses has been passed out of committee. I was the first Member of Congress to recognize this injustice when I introduced my provision to correct it on July 7, 2025. Since then, I have amplified this issue nationally and brought it to the attention of my colleagues, including members of @WaysandMeansGOP. Now it is time for us to push this commonsense solution to the House floor, to the Senate, and finally to the President’s desk. I won’t stop fighting until we get this over the finish line.

This would genuinely save me tens of thousands of dollars in taxes. Kudos to @fairplaygov and all others putting pressure on this to be repealed.
Breaking: the big tax bill with a provision to repeal the 90% cap on gambling losses was just overwhelmingly voted through, with bipartisan support, to the House Rules Committee. It’s a technical step before it goes to the House floor for a full vote.
