Alpha leak: NEAR Signer is coming soon
*** Leave a comment to get a link to the beta version of the app. ***
NEAR Signer is designed to be used as an air-gapped wallet - on an [old] iPhone that is never connected to the Internet.
It acts like a hardware Ledger device, but gives you much better UX and more features such as history of signed transactions and better display for common types of transactions (transfers, DAO proposals, NEAR Intents actions).
It was developed by Ivan Frolov (github.com/frolvanya) and his agents, but I find it so useful that I cannot keep it to myself
Short version: Yes, hardware crypto wallets have always been cooked.
Terrible user experience - magical seed phrases (from a regular user point of view), gibberish nonsense on the tiny screen, countless number of clicks to approve signing.
Majority of the users are not that tech savvy and yet they are forced into this security over obscurity thing.
Passkeys + multisig contract is a great match - easy to review the proposed action and then approve it with a key associated only with the website. This brings secure cryptography key locked for a single domain name, impossible to extract/leak, and securely backed up by Apple/Google by default (you can also bring your own password manager or even hardware passkey) - really good defaults for majority of users!
Try it out with @TrezuApp

Two weeks since inception, the Bitwise NEAR ETF now holds 15.7M $NEAR, with another 1.5M+ added in the 4 days since my last post.
Appetite through TradFi rails isn't slowing down.
$NRR 🔔
Another 2.6M+ $NEAR added to the ETF since my last post 4 days ago.
Not even two weeks since inception. The ticker is NRR 🔔
I’m going to be there. Ask me anything
Passkeys are the king for most of the users.
Hardware crypto wallets only bring false sense of security for users who don’t understand the tech and end up signing whatever gibberish displayed there
Use @TrezuApp to have more control over your actions

Hey @Freol ! The @Dashpay Crypto Quorum topic this week is all about Hardware Wallet security and we would love to have someone from Trezu on stage and hear your perspective! @vinibarbosabr will be there too! :D

Right now, I can’t think of a better multisig solution than passkey and hardware wallets.
This means you can carry a Trezor or ledger, both have Bluetooth signing and still get stuff done.
Infinex and business.near.com do this.
I would do a 2/5 - 1 passkey, 1 ledger, 1 Trezor, 2x friends/family.
This setup protects against most attacks
- being retarded and losing stuff
- phishing
- downloading dumb stuff
- hardware supply chain attack
- entropy attack
- quantum brute force
You don’t need your whole net worth here.
I think NEAR are planning policy management, additional passkey signers and natively quantum resistant. Pretty cool.

NEAR Intents lists tokens for free. @AlexAuroraDev confirmed it on @therollupco this week: Quantus paid nothing, Intents even covered the integration work. The only requirement is passing due diligence.
What a listed token gets: $1B of swap volume every week, $34B all time, buyers coming from 35 chains with whatever they already hold.
If you hold a coin that needs liquidity, send its devs to NEAR Intents today and tell them to ask for a listing. Free will not last forever.

Can't even trust authorised resellers these days....
Good thing that with a multisig you don't really have to
A good reminder for anyone managing a treasury: a single key should never be a single point of failure.
Keys get compromised, devices get tampered with, seeds get phished, people make mistakes. With multisig, one compromised key can't move funds on its own. You just rotate that signer out and keep going.
Secure setup + multisig = a treasury that survives a bad day.
Kudos to the whole team building Trezu!
“Night and day.”
That’s how @rhymetaylor from @dragonisnear described voting with Trezu.
Glad to support a DAO that takes its members’ experience and treasury security seriously.

Bitwise just dropped their new report "NEAR IN PLAIN ENGLISH".
Co-authored by @Matt_Hougan @RasterlyRock @CamKhosravi. Covers Confidential Intents, NEAR AI and revenue/buybacks through Sep.
Finally, even your mom will understand what NEAR is building👇
NEAR is building at the intersection of two problems for crypto and AI.
Crypto has a usability problem. Hundreds of blockchains each have their own assets and rules, and moving money between them can be costly and risky.
AI has a centralization problem. A handful of companies control the most powerful models and the data we hand them.
New research from @Matt_Hougan and @RasterlyRock lays out why @NEARProtocol matters for AI agents, cross-chain trading, and the next wave of crypto adoption.

Founders: could you go offline for two days at a conference without your company's finance ops stopping?
If your phone keeps buzzing with payments, approvals and invoices, here's how to let your team handle them safely:
EU is back on the AI race
Meet Mistral Large 4, aka Le Chonk.
• 1T parameters, natively multimodal. 49B active.
It is the best open weights model from US or Europe on aggregated benchmarks.
• State-of-the-art on critical workloads, including cyber defense, manufacturing and finance and it surpasses closed frontier models on visual grounding.
• Forged in Europe end-to-end and is deployable from Europe via our own Mistral Cloud infrastructure.
• Available to all via API today. Working with cybersecurity partners privately.
Open weights release end of October.

We just launched the reimagined near.com.
Crypto, stocks, perps, and yield share one consistent design. Home rolls it all into one total. ⌘K searches everything.
Same features. But an amazing new experience.
We hope you love using it as much as we loved building it. ❤️
Full funds returned within one day 🤘
The funds from the $3.8M NEAR Intents hack were sent back in full.
We are stopping the investigation.
Please use bug bounties instead of disrupting the services.
I want to shout out for the really great apps in this era of AI noise!
cotypist.app/ - "code complete"-like suggestions to every app on your Mac (I am typing this message with it).
fluidvoice.org/ - a voice-to-text app (runs completely offline + there is an option to plug in confidential NEAR AI inference there for commands execution). Also, in the latest beta version they added meetings recording.
getopenscreen.com/ - local screen recorder, great for demos

Wanted to move away from OpenAI and Anthropic, so I built a #VSCode extension that brings @near_ai private inference directly into #Copilot
Use SOTA models and keep your chats private and secure, with cryptographic attestations to verify that

NEAR Intents “wants to appease regulators” is about as accurate as THORChain “wants to facilitate crime”.
You are just contributing noise, in what should be a discussion about various points on the permissionless spectrum, and how they relate to different needs and use cases.
Good for clickbait engage though! ✌️
