Strategic mobility : what about it ?
This technical name refers to the ability of military forces to transport material, human and logistical resources, quickly and efficiently, to theaters of operations.
💡 Strategic mobility enables to achieve the first movement by projecting forces outside of our territory in order to accomplish the mission where it is commanded to.
On land 🌍, at sea 🌊 or in the air 🚁, strategic mobility helps maximising the success of an operation by keeping the initiative and in order to contain a crisis or prevent escalation.
It requires the combination of various assets :
🛫 conveyance assets fit for operational needs;
🚂 identified and resilient transportation infrastructures, allowing movements under short notice as well as long-term;
🗒️ rules and procedures that are harmonised on national and international scale, in order to deploy forces in an allied frame.
The French forces have a solid expertise and maintain various skills for strategic mobility, whatever the way.
