A mother from County Durham was referred to Prevent because, according to a police intelligence report, she was “supportive of Israel to the point that she has travelled to Israel”. Officers asked why she was interested in “Jewish issues” and whether she had visited Auschwitz. This is the same Prevent programme that received three referrals about Axel Rudakubana before he murdered three little girls in Southport. Of course, genuine warnings must be investigated.
