If ‘power’ says something demonstrably untrue, they rely upon corrupt or, crucially, cowed media to report it as if it *might* be true. It becomes a ‘version of events’ which, though wholly false, must now be offered as ‘balance’ to the truth. Worse, truth then becomes ‘opinion’.
