Check out this great work led by @BarakRaveh, a first of its kind, integrative spatiotemporal map of the NPC explains the main molecular mechanisms underlying nuclear transport! A NCDIR @IntActOme special with our friends @salilab_ucsf, @DavidCowburn1 and @TheVillaLab
New year, new manuscript! Our work on mapping transport between the nucleus and the cytoplasm is now on BioRxiv, and it's time to embark on a journey through the nuclear pore complex. Nuclear what? Bear with me!

The discoveries by Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman – awarded the 2023 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine – were critical for developing effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 during the pandemic that began in early 2020.
Through their groundbreaking findings, this year’s laureates have fundamentally changed our understanding of how mRNA interacts with our immune system. They have contributed to the unprecedented rate of vaccine development during one of the greatest threats to human health in modern times.

“Ten years ago I was kicked out and forced to retire.”
Our new medicine laureate Katalin Karikó (@kkariko) told us how much it means to be awarded the Nobel Prize after a scientific career that has been full of challenges.
Ten years ago, Karikó was still doing all her experiments by hand but today she has been awarded the medicine prize for her research on mRNA, which led to the development of COVID-19 vaccines.
