We are alive for < 0.00002% of the time life has existed on Earth and we know and see so little of the life that is present with us. I try to show you some of the life that few people will ever see. so that it seems
like things aren’t as bad
as they really are.

Oh my God
ICE shot this unarmed man in the back while he was delivering food. 24 hours later, the bullet is still lodged in his back and they've refused his pleas for pain medication
He entered the country legally and had a valid work permit

Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, scientists noticed that a SARS-CoV-2 infection can “wake up” other, dormant viruses already present in the body.
A new study extends those and subsequent observations, documenting viral reactivation for a cohort of more than 1000 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 before mid-2021.
The findings provide a detailed picture of the hidden viruses that become active at different points of a SARS-CoV-2 infection, and link reactivation of some of them to more severe COVID-19 and to lingering symptoms, such as fatigue, that are the hallmark of Long Covid.

You doubled over. Felt the pain. Nearly passed out. Nearly puked.
Then you got kicked again. And again.

Emmanuel, the 5-year old featured in this report, has since recovered and left the Ebola ward, his father told me.
But the lab technician I met in the next ward deteriorated and died last night. His name was Bienfaits.
