MISERY might be the first time a comedy director (Rob Reiner, known for SPINAL TAP and PRINCESS BRIDE) tried their hand at the horror genre and absolutely nailed it, creating an all-time masterpiece. I genuinely can't think of a director before him to pull that off. Reiner really was the goat.
