From Frank lab, a Cell paper today on time-resolve cryo-EM (TRCEM) method, with new chip design + biol. application: short-lived intermediates of the recycling process ...... Thanks to @OliBClarke @LomvardasLab for early postings.
-- New chip, described in detail + biol. application: intermediates of the recycling process, at 10, 25, 140 ms, with the ribosome opening up like a clamshell while bridges are severed, one by one.

Amazing ventilation yesterday at #JF80 all day, both in the auditorium and in the coffee break/lunch room. CO2 levels w/Aranet4. Left my hotel room, right taxi ride (!) end of day. Those levels are very good. Kudos to the organizers on wonderful science and a safe environment!

Incredible line-up of talks to celebrate Joachim Frank’s 80+ birthday today @ColumbiaPS. Peter Moore just gave a captivating survey of ribosome work over the decades, starting with 1950s images of rough ER, to early crystal structures, to CryoEM. Crazy how far the field has come
