2 years, 4 months and 23 days ago this parliament voted to declare a housing emergency.
Scottish Parliament has the power to half homelessness, so what are we waiting for?
It was great to get the chance to speak to new Scottish Labour leader @michaeljmarra on behalf of @ScottishFabians at conference in Liverpool last week - have a look:

“They’re not dividing lines, they’re gathering points.” @michaeljmarra spoke on Sunday at Liverpool’s Bluecoat about his desire to do politics differently as well as what he wants @ScottishLabour to achieve together with the people of Scotland. #Lab26

Politicians need to get round the table and agree measures that will meet our statutory targets on child poverty.
We want to work across party lines to cut child poverty in half in 3 years. Let’s make it happen.
So good to be speaking to people in Port Glasgow this morning. Talking about @michaeljmarra , Andy Burnham, Hope and smooth, new paths!

Great to take this motion on women’s representation and safety in politics through Women’s and Annual Conference with LLRG - and to have JCWIL graduates @FrancescaLabour and @mahil_kiran move and second it.
Proud to work with Kiran Mahil and @LabourWomensNet in my role as Vice Chair of Labour in Local and Regional Government - we used our #Lab26 time to talk about safety for women in politics and representation. More work to do but glad to get unanimous support from conference!

Great to hear from @michaeljmarra in Liverpool - a fantastic speech in the conference hall and a brilliant start to his leadership. I’m excited to get out campaigning this weekend!

Today, the Scottish Parliament backed Scottish Labour’s motion to recommit to legal targets on child poverty.
Now, all parties should get round the table and agree the practical measures needed to meet those targets and lift children out of poverty.

Well done to Cassie and the whole @KingsOakSchool team for the important work they continue to do! It was lovely to meet Vineet Lal and see his mum’s legacy being honoured by a fantastic team in Greenock.
Congratulations to @KingsOakSchool teacher Cassie O'Neill who was presented with the Saroj Lal Award 2026 for a Pioneering Spirit in Equality and Diversity for inclusion and challenging injustice 👏tinyurl.com/yuenaxw6

ALT Cassie O'Neill receiving the Saroj Lal Award from Vineet Lal accompanied by Councillor Francesca Brennan, Inverclyde Council’s vice-convener of education, interim education director Michael Roach, head teacher Kirstin Glancy, depute head Lynne Wilson, TV presenter and activist Jean Johansson, and pupils who have been involved in racial literacy work.
Last night I said Au Revoir (but not Goodbye!) to The Anchor after two years as a trustee on the board of a charity close to my heart. It’s been an honour to play my small part in supporting Chris, Kay and the many other fabulous individuals involved in the work of the charity.
When Offord stood for election in Inverclyde,he couldn’t be bothered to turn up for the only local hustings held in our area (m.youtube.com/watch?v=VFDGJv…) and was rarely spotted in the constituency. He wants to use Inverclyde to stir up trouble but people can see right through him.

Malcolm’s previous party was in Government for 14 years and he had no problem supporting policies that saw poverty increase across Inverclyde.
Labour - both in the Council and in UK - are fixing his mess.
No wonder Reform came a distant third in Inverclyde in May.
Councillor Clocherty and I loved hearing about the finalists in the Inverclyde Sports Personality Awards last night. Congratulations and many thanks to the winners and the runners-up for all they do to keep Inverclyde active!
Thanks to all of you (and, of course, Dolly!), @ScotlandTonight saw my post and gave me the chance to chat about Dolly Parton’s wonderful work and legacy. Thanks to @stvewan and team for allowing me to speak alongside Billy Sloan about a woman with a huge talent and a big heart.
