Elon’s big rebuttal to this is just a fart joke so I think we can all assume Yann is correct here.

I can understand the idea that robotaxis could give Tesla’s financial situation a boost. I don’t share the bulls’ view because I think they’re ignoring the fact that it’s impossible for $TSLA to have a monopoly, and that’s already more than evident. They’re ignoring how fragmented the market is becoming. They’re ignoring how the regulatory framework prevents a single winner. They ignore how difficult it is to gain market share while keeping the service profitable. But I can understand the idea behind robotaxis.
What never ceases to amaze me is that every time I check this social media platform, I see a bunch of empty promises talking about Optimus and how it’s the real product that explains why Tesla is valued so highly. It’s by far the most nonsense argument you’ll read about big-cap companies.
And now that you see the chinese doing these amazing things, they’re back to this idea that Optimus is the superior product. Do you really think that as more companies continue to grow in robotics, Optimus will, for some reason, have a superiority that will make it a highly profitable product?
What’s the actual proof that Optimus is superior? Am I supposed to believe it the same way I was supposed to believe Elon Musk a decade ago when he said chinese EVs weren’t a good product, and now they’ve completely outpaced Tesla around the world?
It’s the argument with the least common sense you’ll ever read, the ultimate demonstration of extreme expectations without a solid foundation. I don’t think even the dot-com bubble reached this level.
Much of the autonomous vehicle space is uncharted territory.
With more than 200M+ miles driven fully autonomously, we’re one of very few companies that can look to our past to illuminate our future.
Here are some fundamental truths shaping how we build AI 👇
Servus, München! 🇩🇪 We’re bringing the Waymo Driver to Germany. Over the coming weeks, our vehicles will arrive in Munich to begin laying the groundwork to launch our fully autonomous ride-hailing service in late 2027!

I had a horrible experience with Robotaxi, and unfortunately, support wasn’t able to help.
My destination was only 2.3 miles from my pickup location, yet the Robotaxi estimated it would take 1 hour and 6 minutes to get there. I couldn’t believe it, so I called support. They assured me it was a bug, and shortly afterward, the estimate dropped to 16 minutes but the actual route never changed.
About two minutes later, the estimated arrival time jumped back up to 57 minutes.
I called support again, and the representative confirmed that he was seeing the same 57-minute estimate on his end. I asked if he could reroute the vehicle, but he told me he couldn’t and suggested that I leave a review.
The rest of the conversation was recorded, so have a listen.
Ultimately, we had to change our destination, get out of the Robotaxi, and call an Uber to get where we were originally trying to go. For a 2.3-mile trip, this was an incredibly frustrating experience especially when support had no way to correct what was clearly a routing problem.
I’m asking everyone to share my story. I didn’t even get a refund.
