As citizen’s, we are expected to contribute to the building of a strong and just society. Yet, Jesus teaches that no earthly duty or expectation is to take priority over our allegiance to the Lord and his commands. We are not just citizens-we are called to be faithful citizens!

JUST IN FROM THE VATICAN: Pope Leo XIV celebrated Holy Mass in a room set up on the 10th floor of the Gemelli Policlinic at noon today.
In his homily, the pope thanked all the staff—doctors, nurses, and support personnel—for the work they carry out every day in caring for the sick and their vulnerabilities, and, in particular, for all they have done and continue to do for him.

Would we call a Spanish-language immersion school successful if its graduates could barely understand Spanish?
We should take the mission of our Catholic schools just as seriously. Academic excellence matters. So does forming students who know Jesus Christ and can understand, articulate and live the faith.
Therefore, I am calling for a significant and genuine renewal of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Portland, beginning in our Catholic elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools and eventually extending to the religious education and faith formation programs in our parishes. I am calling for a renewal of what we call “Mission Passionate Catholic Education.

"This morning, the Holy Father announced he will undergo surgery for a lung nodule in the coming days. The bishops of the United States join with the faithful and all people of good will in praying for his good health. May the hand of Pope Leo's surgeons be guided by the divine physician Jesus Christ. Please find a moment today, as I will, to offer a prayer for Pope Leo and his care team." - Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, President, USCCB @ArchbishopOKC (CNS Photo/Vatican Media)

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

Sielaff is one of the best young play by play guys in any sport. The Marlins did what they did with any asset they’ve ever had and fumbled him. A pathetic franchise whose only redemption would be giving the city of Miami their stadium land back to rebuild the Orange Bowl.
NEW: Per sources, the Marlins today informed Kyle Sielaff, Jeff Nelson, Craig Minervini and Rod Allen that they won't return next season.

Nothing bonds a baseball team to its fans more than the voice(s) of its team. We just saw it with the farewell of Tommy Hutton. We were blessed with the great @RichWaltz for so many years, and now just as @Kyle_Sielaff was making his mark, he’s taken away from us.Cmon @Marlins!😡
