⚠️CHILD DEPRIVED OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS🚨 Child: Niko Posti Kidnapped: 21 February 2024, Oulu, Finland Niko was in perfect health moments before police and social services removed him from his parents and little sister. There was no immediate danger. He already had a rehabilitation plan, scheduled medical appointments and a recent diagnosis. The sole stated reason for the removal was a social worker’s assumption: “I do not believe the rehabilitation will be carried out.” In nearly three years of closed institutional care his mental and physical health has gone into a steep downward spiral. Documented medical emergencies, assessments detailing self-harm, and harm inflicted by caretakers have piled up. Because he is a boy, caretakers dressed him in pantyhose - a form of sexual molestation. As an autistic, non-speaking child he has been stripped of legal and human rights. This is how nonverbal autistic children are treated in Finland. The prolonged closed placement violates Article 5 (liberty and security) and Article 8 (private and family life) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
